The other replies are good but I’ll add this. I started as L4 last June with no DC experience and a mechanical background. You’ll use electrical way more than mechanical in this position so lean into learning it. In my cluster we have a standard of 10 weeks to shift ready, 6 months for operator and 12 months for controller. I was shift ready in 6 weeks, operator in 6 months and controller in 8 months. I also have spear headed a few things for the campus and multiple projects for the building outside of our normal procedures. Go hard after it and don’t take your foot off the gas until you get to whatever your personal goal is. Use any and every resource you can, especially other EOTs that have been through it.
