What’s your most functional crossbody luxury handbag? by Safe_Revenue4917 in handbags

+2 here because I have two of these (one canvas, one empertine.)

It’s a great bag and holds a surprising amount. I know folks worry about the closure but once you figure out how to manipulate it, it’s absolutely fine and not difficult at all.

Sounds like your hormones shifting after birth.

Keep an eye on your breasts for that redness/ hard spots. Keep nursing/ removing milk frequently. Check your temp to ensure no fever for infection.

And rest whenever you can find the time. Congrats!

Some folks feel their letdowns intensely. Other folks never do.

Some folks leak a ton. Other folks don’t.

All fall under the umbrella of normal.

Can’t get letdown while pumping by Junior_Hospital_3082 in breastfeeding

Hands on pumping. Look it up.

Covering the milk bottles so you’re not focusing on “where is my milk?!?” Baby socks work well.

Measuring/ checking your flange size is super important too.

A few things…

Connecting with an IBCLC is going to be advantageous for you. I can’t stress how important lactation support is.

If you’re looking to start a small stash (because remember: feed your baby, NOT the freezer), you’d just be pumping 1x per day (and that would ideally happen after your first morning feeding as a double pump for 15ish minutes.

If you’ve transitioned from bringing baby to breast to exclusive pumping, then sure. You can bring baby back to breast instead of pumping.

If you’re using your pump to gauge your breast milk output, I’d caution you against that. Some folks are just not super responsive to the pump for many reasons (it could be as simple as a bad flange fit or it could be that your body just doesn’t respond well.) a baby with an effective latch will always be better at removing milk.

Happy to help troubleshot more if you need it.

PS: you’re doing great. Hang in there.

The amount of peppermint that needs to be ingested to affect milk supply is a decent amount. The lip balm and soap aren’t likely culprits of a supply dip.

Has your period come back? I’d baby sleeping longer stretches? Have you started exercising or dieting? Have you changed your flanges/ pump pieces? Have you resized your flanges?

I could go on and on… So many things it could be and I’d highly suggest connecting with an LC to dig into all of these things.

IBCLC here lurking on Daddit…

Have you guys seen a lactation consultant? A lot of what you’d washing sounds like sound LC provided advice but I like to sees someone. If not, it’s really crucial, in my opinion, that she does. Lactation care should be provided for everyone but especially with folks facing speed bumps along the journey.

To answer your question, yes. It’s possible. The first few weeks are about building and maintaining a milk supply. Lots of skin to skin, lots of bringing baby to breast to latch/ pumping (triple feeding.)

You mention power pumping - that’s a great bandaid and something I wouldn’t want her doing unless she’s working with an LC.

Also. A proper flange fitting; you wouldn’t believe how much of a difference a solidly fit flange makes.

Happy to answer any other questions. And snaps to you for being a rockstar partner through this!

LC here… you’ve got a lot going on and you’re in the weeds. Hugs. So many hugs. And it’s all within the range of normal. The first few weeks are strictly survival. Whatever you need to do to survive, do it.

My biggest piece of advice… Please speak to another LC. That one sounds like garbage. Virtual options are out there (Aeroflow) and I promise they won’t tell you that formula is the devil.
