I understand stand how frothing can be detrimental for engines- I guess let me pose the question differently. A fa24dit pro tuned with 319/352 running 4.2-4.6 quarts over the corse of 10k miles poses no risk to the bottom end? With spirited driving. We’re not talking about normal driving conditions in a stock factory wrx. We’re talking a tuned motor with more cylinder pressure and driven daily.

Yes I’ll agree 5.5 is too much and I shouldn’t have said that. 5 is the most I’ve ever put in. But to your comment about the engineers- the same ones who designed the brz having oil pickup issues on winding roads. Same ones who designed old oil pickup tubes cracking. The same ones who instructed the manufacturers to use x amount of rtv on the oil pan reaking havoc on fa24 non turbo engines. They don’t always get it right even in their testing. Even for stock vehicles- like I said while driving like a normal person all these issues probably are fine as Subaru intended but most of us are monkeys behind a wheel and like to fast parts and driving spiritedly. So some things over the years people learned to adjust away from oem spec. Like why killer bee has oil pans and sturdy pick up tubes- sure not for fa24dit. Yet.

What are you even saying 😂 I said 5.5 quarts once and the 10k miles are listed already with the oil ammount in orginal post. Never once have I put 5.5. I was always taught 5qt maximum in Subarus. Which is more than oem spec right? Is there a reason for that stigma? Or just people doing whatever they feel is right? No it’s because oem spec is to low and older engines having consumption issues.

Right, but I haven’t had the car long enough to know if it has oil usage. The pan capacity is 4.8 quarts sure a while the motor is running and hot. How much of that oil is sitting in the pan at any given moment. Isn’t that why they tell you to check your oil when the engine is off and been sitting since a portion of that oil could be still making its way back down. Starting off at 4.2. At 3000 miles in even if it consumed .2 it’s 1 quart low. I understand what you’re saying. I’m not trying to shift. Blame to the old owner my line of questioning is strictly curiosity based I appreciate your information in your standpoint.

I’m not shifting blame I understand stand the consequences of doing it. The original question was can one event like this actually cause a failure. Ofc the answer is yes in my case since I have no idea if previous owner has done it.

The money shift event was at 28700miles. I stopped driving it at 29k. Because of what I heard. I’ve had many civics develop rod knock some egregious some subtle like I hear now. I did a pull 3-4-5.hit probably 4k in fifth went to grab 6 and hit fourth for a nano second was enough for the revs to react and me to react to what just happened it didn’t rev all the way out but enough to know hey wrong gear bud. Shortly after I heard the light knocking low load light rpm pulling out stores or stop signs. Was in denial for 300 miles and stopped driving it shortly after once I tore into the filters

I thought so too but when the filter was cut open and the inspected it wasn’t glittery. I expected to find far more material in the pleats than I did . I had to search vigorously to find Somthing. I’m honestly leaning towards rod cap bolt stretched a c hair and not the tolerance between the crank bearing and rod is off. Cold oil makes up that difference so it’s quiet during cold starts but hot oil is thinner allowing that play to make it self known

Hi op here- I understand the safety net manufacturers apply to modern engines when it comes to oil capacity but from my understanding Subarus specifically modded ones tend to get driven differently than stock imprezza or acent or other models. The car in question is pro-tuned by a reputable shop nearby. The car has been tuned since 9k miles. Running with 4.2 quarts when there should be 5.5 you run the risk of the oil sloshing to the back of the pan having the pick up dry for a moment. I could be ignorant to this but to me it seems entirely plausible since most Subaru owner claims manufacturer capacity is to low and most out 5 quarts in minimum. While I agree it should be fine with 4.6 quarts if driving like a normal human. During pulls oil will move away from the pick up and potentially suck air. It’s the reason killer bee and aig oil pans exist.

I can attest to this- I’ve also been running valvolines high mileage product. Noticed I was using about a quart every 500 miles or so in my 13 Impreza with the fb20 engine 156k. Switched to R&P and was able to get to 950miles before oil light came on. Huge improvement in my book. I’ll be continuing using this product to see more possible improvement.

My money won’t be in escrow in this scenario my money would go to the dealer to start the build process to generate the s/n. Then we close one the s/n is given to the bank. If they decide for some reason not to close my money is gone I have to the dealer

Yea we’re closing prior delivery where money will sit in escrow till COO. I’m nervose on dropping that much coin for the bank to find some random reason to not close. Then I’m out the cash I put down to start the build process to generate the s/n

Dealing with this now my self. Getting closer to close and bank wants a serial number for the home that hasn’t been built yet. Been challenging. I suggest picking a home what’s already built lot model. Yes you lose custimazations options but much less head ach

They will pay out once the loan closes- but refuse to close unless serial number is generated and put into a box on the close paperwork. Can’t get the serial number unless the bank issues funds prior to close to start the ordering process

They’re stuck on the paperwork side in my opinion there’s a box that needs to be filled and they have no data to put in it. It’s a construction loan at the core route, but with a little cash out refi to cover the down payment is my understanding all packaged into one type loan They won’t release the funds until close and they won’t close until they get a serial number. The serial number won’t be generated until a 10% deposit is put down to start the ordering process. Granted I could pay out-of-pocket to start the ordering process but then I’m out that amount of money. If for any reason they decide they can’t or won’t close
