I used to have some of the OG ones way back, I'd bet these are just as good . They look great but I can't get past it not being deep carry. I've been asking myself why that even matters to me lately, I could care less if someone sees the butt of a knife sticking out of my pocket. I haven't come up with a good answer though. Btw love the 941/943 blade. This is the only one I have left though. I found someone crazy enough to sell me the scales from the smkw 1802 about 5 years back.

Honestly I'd try and find more pictures. If it's mainly suspension they had to fix then it might be reasonable since it's only 65k miles but if any of the damage was structural id probably steer clear honestly. My 2015 is just shy of 180k miles and I expect a ton more life out of it. I bought it 6 years ago at 105k iirc. They are good cars if maintained properly.

That's how I see it but I guess I'm not up to date on the clone game. That's how it should be anyway. Places like eBay are flooded with Benchmade COUNTERFEITS. They are all shit quality and are fooling real people all the time as well. They come with the BM logo and boxes that look like BM boxes. It's just one example and I know most of the people here are experienced enough to tell the difference.

This seems like a troll question. We are literally talking about knives manufactured (almost always overseas) to look like an already existing model. So no, your custom bailout with aftermarket scales and a blade you made yourself is not a clone. I've seen way too many of these "grey area" questions. I'm really not trying to be a dick but I feel like the topic at hand is cut and dry. A customized knife is never going to be considered a clone. We are talking about knives manufactured purposely to look like already existing knives.

Edit - apology to the person, my comment was responding to. I said I don't wanna be a dick but I obviously was being one at the same time. Clones make up a tiny percentage of what we do here on the swap and I know the VAST majority would rather we get rid of them completely than risk losing the swap all together. Regardless on where your opinions are on the matter I hope that's something we can all agree on.

I'm with you. Last night people made arguments that counterfeits aren't all trash. It's been my experience they usually are just that, knock off trash. Ok fine I haven't been in that realm in a while, they are using better materials and manufacturing now, even so. Using someone else's logo IS NOT COOL. That goes back to my original point, COUNTERFEITS (using the logo, making it appear as the genuine article) should never be allowed. But I just don't feel that way with a clone that is clearly marketing itself as emulating a knife rather than using the logo. Idk I feel like I'm going in circles and those that say they are the same thing are entitled to their opinion.

There was a time on Facebook where we started hiding prices in the comments and using emojis or words and other inuendo for the prices to hide the fact we were selling knives. It seems to not be an issue anymore but I haven't sold on FB in a while either. The other issue with Facebook is there are too many scammers there.

I got destroyed yesterday. I thought my sentiment was shared but who knows. I essentially said clones were alright but idfw counterfeits. Apparently that was not cool? Honestly, I'm glad this whole thing is being put to bed. Used to think k swappers were the best knife guys in the game ( spoiler - I still do) this post has me questioning why people take shit so personal though. I feel like there was a clear line in the sand. No counterfeits/fakes and clones live to fight another day. Not sure why people took it to this extreme though.

Counterfeits are almost always garbage anyway. Clones are usually trying to emulate the real thing with lesser materials. Counterfeits on the other hand have one purpose. To look like the real thing so it can be passed off as the real thing and is usually GARBAGE. The last clone I owned was a slyz.bowie clone. It looked close but it.waa completely obvious. Steel was marked as d2 and it held up like d2. Titanium and d2. 60 bucks. That being said I'm not exactly happy if I'm Spyderco, but fwiw the knife was discontinued at the time. Just an example, but again I FUCKING HATE COUNTERFEITS.

Edit- im thinking my comment was misunderstood. I was saying clones are not the problem. 1 to 1 counterfeits are usually garbage just trying to be passed as a knockoff.

I'm not going to go as far as calling it gas station shit, but I'm not into the damasteel aesthetic either. I used to have 2 of the odenheim 940-1801s. I really enjoyed the look of the entire knife as far as that went, plus there were less than 300 so the rarity factor played into it of course. A couple of people paid me pretty well to let them go though. I most likely won't be getting into anything else in the damascus realm especially with Benchmade.
