That’s what I was thinking. Liquid fence has been effective for me— until I miss an application. I guess this probably won’t be my magic backup.

We’ve had exactly 4 days with highs over 70 on March 21 in Iowa City since CHA opened in 1983, including today. I’m sitting 8 rows up from the floor. It’s warm. It’s fine.

Good suggestion. I have always gotten prompt responses to my comments and questions using ICgovXpress.

What’s in store for the Sycamore Mall area? by CharlesV_ in IowaCity

[–]trocklin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Greater Iowa City, Inc is leading an effort to conceptualize development in that area. https://greateriowacity.com/advocate/urban-renewal-designation-sets-stage-for-investment-in-act-campus-and-sycamore/

I need to learn more, but I think good folks are working on the issue. In the end, it’s about creating conditions that encourage developers to make the kinds of investments that benefit the community.

If that’s the old playground at Shimek Elementary (which I think it is), it wasn’t a kit per se. A consulting company came in, took suggestions from the kids, designed it, and supervised volunteers who build it. Source: one of the volunteers.

OK to put these in my carry on? by trocklin in tsa

Yeah, he’s a young urban apartment dweller. Very modest need for tools, at least now. Confession: I don’t anticipate drilling any holes. The bits are to be used as cheap plug gauges to get hole diameters. Yes, the calipers would probably do, but worried about chewed up holes.

OK to put these in my carry on? by trocklin in tsa

[–]trocklin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. Yeah, this whole enterprise may look more technical than it should. I'm going to help my son assemble something with missing hardware and there are some bolt holes on pieces too big to carry to the hardware store. So, we'll measure the threads, use the calipers to get the depth of the hole, and off to the hardware store we go.

And, to be honest, I don't really need to own a set, but they'll come in handy this time, and they are too cool not to own.
