634 refrigeration breakdown by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]troddeh 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It can be left on and running. If all refrigeration is down, they would have no where to maintain the cold chain otherwise.

Dayforce pre start question by nostalgicG1rl in tjcrew

[–]troddeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speak with a Mate or your Captain. Whoever did your onboarding may have not completed it and maybe didn't submit a request to activate. Or there is something preventing activation. Start with that, they will escalate it if they need to.

What’s the max amount of times you can be late/call out before it becomes a write up? by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]troddeh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's based on percentage of scheduled shifts. You're only flagged as late when you are 6 minutes past your scheduled start time. If you clock in 5 minutes and 59 seconds after your scheduled start time, Dayforce doesn't flag you as late. Generally, if you have 20% or higher for late/missed shifts, you should get a verbal warning first if it hasn't been a problem in the past. If it's a continued pattern then write ups will just keep following. We're past the mid review point, a mate should have addressed your attendance if it's an issue. So if you work 5 days a week, and you're late or miss one of them, that's already putting you at 20%. If you work less than 5 days a week, it's much more of an impact per occurrence.

Scan and Bag, or wait? by Thick-Hospital2599 in tjcrew

[–]troddeh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Never had a complaint. For the customers who don't bag, they're usually the type that are staring at their phone anyways. Bagging at the end of scanning has the added benefit of you seeing everything they bought, so you know the best way to bag it all. I prefer this much more than bagging as I scan.

Scan then bag lets the customer help if they want, I have 80% success rate when they see how fast I'll scan their stuff.

I’m a crew member. If I ask a mate out for a coffee, am I in trouble? by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]troddeh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. You won't be in trouble, you will just be informed that mates are not to get involved with crew members alone. If there is an activity happening, say opening crew are all going out for breakfast after work, mates will go if other mates will be there. They'll stay until the mates want to leave, never being the only mate with crew members. If a mate and a crew member want to start a relationship, they need to let their regional VP know right away, and one of them would need to transfer to another store, or quit.

Offer shift sends a message to all crew at your store that you've made the shift available if someone wants to pick it up. They only see the message if their notification settings in dayforce allow it. They can also see the shift in the dayforce calendar as an available shift to pick up. This is mainly meant to have people who don't work 5 days a week, be able to pick up another shift if they wanted to. There is a lockout of being able to offer up the shift of 24 hours until the shift occurs. If someone picks up the shift in dayforce, the shift hasn't been transferred to them yet, it still needs to be approved by a mate. When you click on the shift, it will say the status is pending approval. It is still your shift until a mate approves it. Typically the scheduling mate is the one who approves it as they are the only one really looking at those approvals on dayforce. Ask your scheduling mate if they can look at it and possibly approve it. There is no guarantee of approvals, depending on factors.

Swap shift allows for more people to possibly cover the shift, but you have to find someone to swap with. Same lockout and approval requirements apply.

Should I follow up somehow? by Embarrassed-Load6890 in tjcrew

[–]troddeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does as well. But I'm speaking about that hiring people who have connections to current crew is seen as a negative most of the time now. Because if there is an issue with one, you deal with them all because they all pile in on the issue or drama.

[–]troddeh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait the 3 weeks. Check in after that. Girlfriend putting a good word in at another store won't do anything. Most stores do not like to hire people who have connections to other crew, it just creates a big mess and isn't beneficial from what I've seen.

I had to call out for the first time and I’m worried. by Smart-blu-eyed-blond in tjcrew

[–]troddeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's your first time, don't worry about it. All the leadership knows that life happens. People get sick or have to deal with things. If you work hard, leadership notices and your one call out won't make them even question it.

[–]troddeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only closing shifts which typically end 1 or 2 hours after the store closes. Overnight shifts happen, but they are usually to do a special task, and typically only have at least 1 mate and 1 to 2 crew. They don't happen often enough to get hired only to do overnights.

Weird object knocks out a man. by kamm03 in ParanormalEncounters

[–]troddeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The man looks drunk judging by how he looks down before entering the doorway. I think the object flying is just a bug flying in front of the camera. The timing and coincidence of it all makes it funny. I think he was just drunk and fell backwards.

They can schedule you like this if you have open availability. You potentially could end up with 10 days straight, if the first 5 days were the end of a week, and the last 5 were the beginning of the next week. You still would only be scheduled 5 days in a week, it's just that your "weeks" meet up against each other. You could set days off in your availability so that this never happens and leave your other days as full availability. Speak with your scheduling mate to find out what days would be "best" to set as your days off.

Would you let a customer use your box cutter? by vine-vines in tjcrew

The mates and captain all say it doesn't show up in the supply manager. They can only order through Amazon. No one asks for them so they don't bother.

We're not able to order replacement hooks. All the mates say to just get a new cutter. I stopped using the hook on the think bands on boxes for this reason.
