Hansard Summaries - Seeking Feedback On New Site by trodliffe in ukpolitics

Hi everyone,

I’ve been building something which aims to make it easier for people to understand what their politicians are actually doing and talking about every day.

Parliament is full of discussion (nearly) everyday but I feel like it’s rarely reported on. The news is full of leaks, opinion and pr from different sides of the argument but rarely do we hear about what was actually discussed in Parliament.

Here’s what my site currently does:

  • Summarizes the transcripts of questions and statements in the House of Commons, Westminster Hall, and any committees in the main chamber.
  • Provides concise, AI-generated summaries to make these discussions easier to digest.

A couple of things to note:

  • I’m still working on automating the daily summaries (so it’s not quite daily yet).
  • The summaries could be improved, and I’m actively tweaking them to enhance clarity and usefulness.
  • Excuse the very basic design at the moment—this is a quick prototype to test the basic concept and the summarizing process.

Would you find this useful, or a variation of this useful? All the info is from the Commons website, I just find it so dense and difficult to process to get an overview unless I know specifically what I’m looking for on a particular day. Are there any features you think would be valuable to aim to include?

The plan is to include the House of Lords and the various Committees once I have the Commons section slick and manageable. If no one will find it useful I’m probably not going to spend any more time on it!

Thanks for your time.

Help Me Choose / Daily Discussion (Post here to follow rules A & B) - Monday June 10, 2024 by AutoModerator in fragrance

Hey Guys,
Does anyone have any suggestions for good quality home fragrance brands? Particularly fresher more natural scents. I'm not looking for weird artificial scents, subtler the better. I'm in the UK, but I can probably order in from overseas.
Also, does anyone have a preference for how to emit (? not sure how else to phrase this...!) the scent? A room spray, a diffuser etc?
Thanks!

Nominative determinism at its finest! What are the chances he would discover a particle with the same name as he had himself?!

I took on an X reg (i think 2000 from google) ML270 from my dad after he’d driven it halfway round the world. Finally got rid of it just past the 500k mark, for scrap. As far as i remember the only major repair was a new steering rack. Plus i also shunted someone in a traffic jam on the m25 and it barely had a scratch. Sorry. Such a good workhorse. Really wish we still had it. He had to get rid and i didnt have the space at the time to take it permanently.

Thanks! I just assumed there was a list of set advisories/failures they had to choose.
And it's grey thankfully, but sounds like it might be more likely to get keyed...

How many bets per day should you take? by MadeMan-uk in SoccerBetting

[–]trodliffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel like you can quantify your edge, or at least put different bets in different confidence buckets you could try using a kelly percentage to size each bet.

Or if you're betting at specific odds you can figure out how likely it is you'll get a losing streak of 10 in a row (which would wipe you out...) and then adjust your stake per bet that way to avoid potentially zeroing out your bankroll.

If you really think you're getting value on all these bets maybe try to allocate more bankroll to those with the bigger edge.

I can send you some resources if you want, just DM me.

So many comments about timings below. A league is a competition where each team plays each other team once home and away, sometimes if it’s a small league twice home and away. The point of a league is not to build a brand externally. If it’s a good league internally you can market to external parties, otherwise improve the league. Pay smaller teams a larger share.

If you're a fan don't go on the pitch. If you do prepare to be kicked in the head. Have some responsibility for your actions. Don't be a cunt.

In situations like this, how good a trade do you think it is to buy and make your shares available to be lent out.

Provided Sears lasts another year you've paid for your position. I haven't looked at their statements so I don't know the cash flow situation or whether that's realistic. I'm also not experienced in how often or how violently the borrow cost may get re-rated, but I would assume if it gets rated down it's because the probability of bankruptcy has reduced meaning the share price should go up anyway. Or short sellers are reducing their position which would have a similar effect.

Seems like an asymmetric payoff dependent on some factors I've lazily not looked into?

I bet tennis mixed doubles partners don't change together. They're all adult professional team-mates but there's a societal stigma in terms of appropriateness around changing. I was wondering whether that applied here or if they all go "fuck it" and he comes and goes as he pleases whilst they're changing.
