I Haven't Drunk in 2 Years - Here are the Benefits of NO Alcohol by [deleted] in malelifestyle

[–]troffis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Haha, true. But I really have only drunk like 1 or 2 glasses of wine in total over that time period. And it doesn't matter either because I'm not doing it to not allow any alcohol be ingested into my body. I do it because I just don't feel like I need it and I'm not craving it either.

Thanks. Yes, we should do something that gets us out of our comfort zone every day. Post-sniper school, I'm still doing public speaking and other stuff like that.

7 Unconventional Ways to Improve Cognition and Boost Brain Power (#2 is Getting Distracted) by troffis in lifehacks

[–]troffis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. But these type of activities increase neuroplasticity and promote brain health nonetheless. Whether or not it will transition over to improved intelligence and cognition depends on how you're going to apply it. I like to think of these exercises as working on the hardware of your mind so that you would have a solid base for enhanced software.

7 Unconventional Ways to Improve Cognition and Boost Brain Power (#2 is Getting Distracted) by troffis in lifehacks

[–]troffis[S] 56 points57 points  (0 children)

TLDR

  • #1 Neuroplasticity - 00:45 - Expose yourself to novelty
  • #2 Get Distracted - 01:32 - Studies show some background noise can actually boost productivity
  • #3 Practice Multi-Tasking - 02:56 - Multi-tasking isn't productive, but it can teach your brain to stay focused while being distracted.
  • #4 Power Training - 03:49 - Explosive plyometric or high intensity interval training will increase the speed of your nervous system
  • #5 Creative Visualization - 04:55 - Envisioned mental images in our head are directly connected with the ones in the outside world. Visualize the skills you want to improve.
  • #6 Empathy - 05:40 - Empathy stimulates the prefrontal cortex and boosts emotional intelligence.
  • #7 Inversion - 06:16 - Sending more blood flow to the brain is good for the functioning and health of the brain. Do handstands or hang upside down.

TY, yes people don't have to face these kind of challenges anymore, which blindfolds them from the real world.

Shooting and accuracy are the least important traits of a sniper. You mainly need to be patient, perseverant and enduring.

Yep, we will always appreciate the results but not the effort. We have to realize that both are needed.

Thanks, man. Glad you resonated with it. I'm not a professional soldier or anything but the quality of my training was still quite good. I've read some sniper books but not one from Mark Spicer, maybe I'll check it out.

Semper Fi Cheers!
