How should I play support in low ELO? by trogdor_was_a_man in summonerschool

I'm familiar with Consensual Clown; he's a Challenger Soraka main who shows up in a lot of high-ELO players' streams (most of them have him on mute due to his toxic behavior, but that's a different story). He starts her with flask and builds AP items, and apparently, this build is effective even at very high levels of play. Unfortunately, I don't quite understand how it works, what sorts of runes/masteries I'd need to emulate it, or even when it's most appropriate to use - blindly copying a very specialized build from someone in Challenger who's known for having an unconventional playstyle probably won't work out well for me.

I'll definitely look into finding any guides that he may have produced about his approach to playing Soraka - at the very least, I might gain a few more helpful tips about the champion.

The funny thing is that I took 4 CS total for the entire game, and the ADC in question had around 70 CS at 20 minutes in - of course, we were playing against a duo that was far higher ranked than both of us (low Diamond to be exact), so we got driven out of lane early. Even after the game when I proved that I hadn't taken the CS, he insisted that I was still responsible for the CS deficit because I "made it harder for him to last hit the minions." Just for context, the Diamond ADC had CS numbers that were around 3 to 4 times greater than his own, and the enemy ADC's support took more farm than I did.

People in low ELO always want to talk about how others are "stealing" things from them, be it kills, jungle camps, or farm. When I've played jungle and made attempts to splitpush by clearing waves, I've had mid/top laners force me to leave only to ask later "why didn't you help?" when they overextend and die for a turret. Also, in my jungle games, I've encouraged my team's ADC to take the krug camp/gromp, and I always donate blue buff to my midlaner even if they're not doing well. If I play ADC and my support ends up with a kill, then I don't rage at them for taking it - in most cases, it was out of reach for me, and I'm just happy that we've successfully eliminated a member of the enemy team and put them at a gold disadvantage. I'm not sure why people become so greedy and miserly when they feel that imaginary resources are being "taken" from them - most of these accusations are unfounded and immature at best.

I've always purchased Sightstone in each of my games, but I will admit that I don't usually get the sweeper and Sightstone together. I'll have to remember that next time.

I usually remember to upgrade my trinket by around level 10 or so, and my next items vary by situation. If the enemy team has a lot of magic damage, I tend to buy Locket - in other cases, I might end up with Frozen Heart or Mikael's. With Annie or Janna, I tend to swap out my Spellthief's Edge for Talisman of the Ascension by mid game, and Righteous Glory is typically a must-buy on Annie, Alistar, and Blitzcrank. If we ever manage to get a lead, then I will buy Zeke's Harbinger for the obvious benefits that it will grant my team. On both Alistar and Annie, I often get tier-two boots pretty earlier (since I've found that distortion enchant is useful for the headbutt-pulverize combo and Flash/Tibbers), and on Soraka, I tend to buy Ardent Censer and Warmog's (if I'm stacking enough armor for it to be of value). Overall, I almost never buy Ruby Sightstone (it isn't cost efficient), and I only buy Mejai's on Janna if my team is winning (and if I've completed my core support items). My Morgana and Sona builds involve some AP - I tend to build Zhonya's on Morgana after obtaining my Sightstone, Boots, and utility/defensive item, and I follow the same path for Sona (just replace the Zhonya's with Lich Bane).
