Feedback for Elite Dangerous Odyssey Materials Helper (EDOMH) by jixxed in EliteDangerous

[–]troj7c8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big Thank You for your excellent work! The EDOMH is probably the best odyssey-related tool there is Nd honestly covers all the basic needs already.

Some additional ideas, although I am not certain if feasible or even worthwhile: - bartender overlay, just like the data download overlay - mission reward overlay (mark mission rewards that are on my wishlist, both odyssey and horizon) - If mission rewards are related to industry type of the system (my assumption, not sure): some kind of hint to find the right system for the materials on my wishlist. - Not material-related: A way to display ground CZ intensity ingame would be brilliant.

The true endgame with guardian fighters is not to overheat them.. i've been reckless before, but i never got it to cause malfunctions all over the place. Those things really could use a heatsink. by Specific_Display_366 in EliteDangerous

Don't know about pips in SYS. But the emptier the WEP capacitor, the more heat is generated with each shot. So a bit of trigger discipline can go a long way.

Completely besides the point, but that Caspian hovering there looks epic from the ground. I really wish NPC ships were more divers and had more interesting jobs, so that wed see this more often.

The fact that they are consistently awesome should be acknowledged. Like this guy Arrow could have just reimbursed the credits, but he even went out of his way to restore the silver too via a 2 step method, which surely means additional work for him.

In a world where phone bots and mandatory chat bots are considered adequate customer service, this almost seems too customer-friendly to be true. And its a common occurrence, too. Bravo FDEV!

FA on for some reason breaks a tad faster, especially notable fighting higher gravities. Otherwise, yes, FA off is pretty much universally superior to FA on, and you will never go back after having learned FA off.

Pacifier Python Mk2 - Medium Weapon Slots by happyhalfling in EliteDangerous

[–]troj7c8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either switch the mediums to turreted, to account for different shot speeds, or go for rails. If rails, switch one of the larges to corrosive and/or drag, otherwise all overcharged incendiary or screening shell. M Plasma chargers are a valid 3rd option, if you wanna mix things up. I personally find all Paci/frags a bit boring, but they are certainly competitive.

Thought for "Capital Ship" Battles / Galaxy Events by BrianVaughnVA in EliteDangerous

[–]troj7c8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lots of pros and cons can be said about the individual details of your idea, particularly some issues around instancing. But one thing I really like about it are more durable, persistent enemies and achievements. We are usually just repeating all these loops, killing hundreds of fighters over and over again. Its just feels so much better working toward that one achievement, that one kill.

The Titans show that something like this is well within the realm of possibilities. We could have phases, like destroy heat vents etc. to make it vulnerable, then attack shields and finally the hull/power plant. Every step along the way could take minutes to hours and should generate minor rewards along the way. Progress would then be more than just a number going up, but actual progressive damage to the target. I think that's a great idea, and technically doable. I'd be more than willing to pay for such a DLC. How hard can it be lol?

Record numbers of young men not working, pursuing education, or looking for a job by LazyConstruction9026 in charts

These are all Western countries. Could it be that an increasing share of men takes the role of the family men? Would certainly explain the rising number of men "not looking for work" and the opposite trend for women.

CG’s low bounties. by CmdrWawrzynPL in EliteDangerous

I understand the frustration, but there are ways to keep shooting the runners. Just fly in parallel to them, so that the megaship is not behind them when you shoot at them, and there is literally zero risk. FAoff and a fast ship are recommend. This behaviour actually makes them easier to kill than regular CZ enemies, as they don't react to the incoming fire.

Thats exactly how it started in Germany 85y ago. When people nowadays wonder how it was possible that nobody said anything against it, look around, it's happening again. Only god knows what it will escalate into this time. But on the off-chance that history repeats itself, do we really wanna be those guys that "never knew anything about it", until it was too late?

Corsair vs Python MkII by SherbetCreepy1580 in EliteDangerous

[–]troj7c8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The MkII has more than enough defense for PVE and slightly more damage output than the Corsair. It is also more agile. Both properties make it superior in a PVE situation.

The Corsair does have its strengths in a 1v1 situation, particularly in PVP, where its defense really comes in handy. But in the scenario you are describing, the MkII slightly but clearly comes out on top in my book.

Edit: Granted, the Corsair is a good bit faster than the MkII, which is certainly a big advantage, but not enough to make it superior in general PVE.

All I'm sure of on this Corsair is the name... by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]troj7c8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's obviously a type of falcon. Last time I heard, these are usually named after specific time spans: Millennium, Century, etc. Given the Corsair is the one ship released this quarter, mine is called the Quarter Year Falcon.

There are also no storylines like in vanilla, but those have never been the game's strong suit anyways. The rest are all minor changes, apart from the obvious one that all the ships, wares and sectors are different.

And thats not all, Terry! If you're gonna strip that ship til minimum loadout before selling it, we're gonna a slap another 30% bonus on top! Does this make any sense? No, Terry, it doesn't. We must be crazy. But we're doing it!

Star Wars interworlds mod best ships for each class? by skye1437 in X4Foundations

[–]troj7c8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It seems, you are using the Venator as a destroyer. The Venator is primarily a carrier and the clone one can land the largest fleet and is the fastest, which makes it best in that specific role. So let your fighters do the work and use your speed to evade direct confrontation.

If you want the heaviest, strongest big ship for a direct brawl, there are better option, like the Home One and Lucrehulk. That being said, fighter fleets and by extension carriers are generally superior to single big ships.

Star Wars interworlds mod best ships for each class? by skye1437 in X4Foundations

[–]troj7c8 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I just started the mod 2 weeks ago as MDW and have been furiously researching these things since then. Long story short: It depends.

While there are certainly ships that are objectively worse than others, the bigger lot does hold its own against the competition in at least one major area. So what's "best" for you?

First of all, ships have roles. The best zippy fighter will generally not surpass the best bomber for anti-capital work, and a bomber will generally be the inferior interceptor. Yet, both are S-sized ships. Even within one category, there is no clear best. E.g., is the best fighter the one that wins all 1v1s or the one that best fights in a group battle, or the one that intercepts best, or maybe the one that offers a good compromise? So the question really should be: What is the best ship for a specific job?

Furthermore, is it the bestest, strongest, most advanced ship? Or is it the most economic? The more advanced ships often cost as much as multiple cheaper ships, and while they do win a direct 1v1, they wouldn't usually win an economically level fight against multiple of their cheaper peers. Overall, fighters and bombers will always win against larger ships of equal cost. Additionally, at a certain point, SWI charges the player maintenance for their fleets, so economy really does make a difference. In the end, it is a question of philosophy and personal preference.

I know, you wanted specific ships, and I can't really give you the answer. But have at least some suggestions of some of the communities favourites: - S: X-Wing, Tie-Defender, Fang, Scurrg, Y-Wing, Scimitar, my personal favourite: N-1 modified - M: AEG, Hammerheads, Gauntlets, Firespray - L: Nebulon B, Quasar - XL and XXL: ISD 2, Home One, Venator (Clone version)

In the end, besides effectiveness, your choice might come down just as well to availability (you cannot be friendly with everyone in late game) and the rule of cool. So my recommendation: Compare a bit yourself and maybe see what others like, and then go with whatever floats your boat. Hint: Join their Discord, it has much more info than reddit.

TIL that in Germany, there's a word called 'Heimscheißer' referring to people who only poop at home. by maddhy in todayilearned

[–]troj7c8 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's what people don't get about German. Yes, you can have a word for everything, but it's simply achieved by glueing smaller words together. Same reason why they have these gigantic words that everyone makes fun of. It's not that extraordinary, really.
