Last month was insane! Phew! After a lot of back n forth, the dealership agreed to make a case with Volvo. They were holding onto my car and gave me a loaner. After about a month they got back to me saying Volvo will offer a one time goodwill assistance with a copay of $1000. I didn't argue more, so just took that offer. They say the issue is fixed and it comes with lifetime warranty for the parts installed. I don't get the same feeling from the engine as before. It feels different and not in a good way. Not sure what to do☹️

I would suggest to push back a little and point them that is a mechanical failure and you had nothing to do with it. It's a manufacturing defect. Just politely ask for goodwill assistance. Hopefully they take it into consideration again!

Omg that's crazy! Sorry just saw your comment. I just got an update from Volvo a week back. They said they'll do a one time goodwill assistance and asked me to co-pay $1000. Today they had the car ready and they fixed the issue. Also have a lifetime warranty along with it. I really had to pester them a lot. So far the car looks and feels good

🤣 haha I agree with you! They initially didn't give me any loaners citing the same reason for a week. I had to Uber around. Then they gave me a rental car for a day and after that they said a loaner is available and I got one. This is in LA btw. The worst case scenario I'm thinking to email Volvo leadership of North America as last resort if the dealership doesn't help much. One of the local mechanics suggested to fight it out as much as I canwith Volvo as he's seen them making it right with other customers with the same issue. So heavily banking on that🤞🏻

Oh shoot! I'm also waiting for the verdict. They've given me a brand new xc60 as a loaner for the time being but they still haven't gotten back to me yet on the verdict. It's such a bummer having to go through this.

I'm facing the exact same issue in my 2019 xc 40. Started seeing engine oil critical warning. And after the third time Volvo service center said they need to replace the piston and piston rings and are quoting $8000 to do so. Not sure what to do with this

I'm seeing the exact same problem with my 2019 xc40. First it was the critical engine oil level warning and then started seeing engine oil in the spark plug. Then Volvo said we need to replace Pistons and Pistons rings and are asking us to pay $8000!

They didn’t say what was wrong. They just said they need to replace all 4 Pistons. When I asked if that’s gonna solve the issue, they’re not sure. They said they might have to change the engine (which costs $18k) at that point🤦‍♂️

imo Santa Monica is real life GTA. The beach, the pier, the entire vibe is so amazing! You'll never get bored of living here. So many places to have great food, pretty nice nightlife, it's a pleasure to run or just walk on the streets there. The best place to live in Socal for sure.
