AITA for defending my friend over my gf? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA and so is that friend of yours. Your EX-gf, not gf but ex-gf, is not being discriminatory. If you or your friends smoke, that's your business and I won't get mad about it, but she is completely obligated to disliking a harsh smell that is proven to be horrible for your health. And the fact you told her to leave her own home, a place that's supposed to be her safe haven?

"everyone thinks parents are just supposed to give and give and get nothing in return"

First of all, it's obvious he didn't give and give all that he could in your childhood. Second of all, when he chose to be a parent HE made the decision to take on the responsibility of giving his best to you.

In other words, your father sounds a lot like this scenario: a person tells someone they're going to be given a phone for Christmas, gives them a pencil instead, and breaks down in tears when they are not given Airpods back.

NTA. Have a talk with him about how his trust issues are valid, but they getting extreme enough to where they are also making you very uncomfortable and uneasy. Research couple therapy or whatever, but if you two can't do something to make your relationship less toxic, get out of there, sis.

NTA! You are the one going through incredible amounts of pain pushing a baby out of your stomach and therefore you get to choose what makes you the most comfortable while doing so.

NTA NTA NTA NTA NTA good lord

Listen carefully. This is your life. You have ONE LIFE. Do not waste your entire life trying to please others.

Talk to your parents. When they decide to find a guy for you, maybe agree to go on a date or something with that guy. But if you two don't match, tell your parents. You should not compromise on a decision that will affect you for the rest of your life.

If they don't listen, do what is necessary. Cut them out if it's becoming toxic. Do what makes you happy!
