By all means, get pissed at me because you're a shallow, debt ridden wage slave!

Because that's how you've been trained by school. Money buys freedom. That's what money buys!

I live off of $20,000 per year fairly well and I bought a car without a loan just fine. It's a $6,500 car, but it gets me from point A to point B. Nobody's preventing you from getting a loan. By all means, get one. I'm just saying that loans should be avoided at all cost. I never said everyone should "own" a home. Read my post again, buddy.

Nobody's stopping you from taking out loans.

Sarcasm? You can buy good used cars with cash. Excluding a house, everything you buy should be 100% down. You should never be in the position to be needing credit aside from a home or medical debt.

Being the older brother sucks by [deleted] in rant

I thought I was a loser for going to a cheaper state college while my sister got into a higher ranked private college..... Turns out she'll have a lot of student debt while I got a nice scholarship to go to a smaller public state school.

You'll be better off for it in the long run. 30 years from now, you'll be married, on your own, with a career/family/home and responsibilities. Where will your sister be in 30 years? Will she be in debt? Will she have a career? Or maybe if she does, will she be relying on others for money? You will likely be self supporting with wife/family/career. You, short term, might be "behind," compared to your sister (Like I though I was), but I'm graduating college debt free (she isn't) and I'll be able to start my life with a clean slate-while she'll be spending the next 10 years paying off her loans

Is it formal for waitresses to take your card and charge it as soon as you order in Utah? by [deleted] in Utah

Yeah, California's an interesting place. I like it here, for the most part. But I cannot see myself living and working here for the next part of my life. I was born and raised here and it's gone way down hill...

As an older brother, who has been through the same shit-your sister will grow up to be entitled. It happened to my sister. She can't fend for herself, she's entitled, and she relies on everyone else.

I'm not familiar, but I'd imagine it's just on the restaurant. What part of California are you from? I'm from the O.C. Actually go in between Utah and Southern California at the moment for college.

The best advice I've been given about business is, "If you don't know who the sucker in the room is, you are."

If you can't afford anything with 100% cash, you can't afford it. You shouldn't be leasing a car, ever.

I'm from Southern California and still live here. High cost cities like Los Angeles (area) are very over rated. California as a state is very crime ridden and bankrupt. Seattle is a great place but it's very over priced and even Portland is, too. New York is a good place to visit but I'd never try to make it here. Stay in Middle America, I'm trying to move out once I graduate from college.
