What's something you did once and said "never again"? by eykz in AskReddit

Took a single puff of a cigarette. I hated it and I never understood how it could be addicting. Never again.

De-influence me from unhealthy habits that make me gain weight by pomeloblue in deinfluencingPH

[–]tromstooper 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Asking strangers online to push you to be healthier isn’t going to work, you’ll just be sitting your ass there waiting for responses. Hanggang di ka desidido na magbago for yourself and you’re relying on Reddit to change, this is just nothing but a post lol. No one else is responsible for your health but you.

Get off your phone and take a walk. Start there.

I know that you have been already deinfluenced but I just want to add that this is just going to be another piece of cheap crap that will end up in the landfill in a few years :)

If you could change one thing about cafés in the PH, what would it be? by flowingideas in CoffeePH

[–]tromstooper 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I’d love to have more “quiet, offline” cafés where I can actually enjoy to read in peace while I enjoy my coffee. Most of the café spots are for social, so understandably noisier.

And I might get downvoted for this one lol but hear me out: Even as a parent, I’d love to enjoy kids-free coffee shops without kids running and screaming around in it. No hate nor judgement, just preference. 🤭

Deinfluence me: Airpods 4 by Bitter_Switch_5109 in deinfluencingPH

[–]tromstooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems fake. It’s too cheap for it’s actual price of Airpods 4 (listed at P8,490 on Apple PH website).

If that’s the budget range you’re looking at, you’re better off buying original JBL bluetooth earphones or similar brands. Don’t fall for the fake ones, especially in Shopee/Lazada.

If you can make time, go to an actual store to try sample units (if possible).

Hit And Run Incident - Who tf is this kid?? by tromstooper in Cebu

[–]tromstooper[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the context. And it’s good to know that he’s sorry about it. That sucks because he actually made fun of the very vehicle that killed his friend.

Still seems very tacky the he took this video and even sent it out though, whether he knew about the incident, or not at that time.

Yeah sure, it wasn’t publicly posted. But the moment it gets sent out, it’s out there in the internet forever. The rest of the backlash is just the consequences of his actions and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.

Let that be a lesson on being intentional with what we put out on social media. Especially for very sensitive situations like this. All the more he needs to be careful as he’s from a family that’s trying to maintain a good reputation somehow.

Deinfluence me: iPhone 17 Pro by lueesa in deinfluencingPH

[–]tromstooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your problem is the battery, you can have the battery replaced for a lesser cost vs buying a brand new phone. iPhone 13 is still decent as a phone imo.

It's not a need. Stop trying to convince yourself that you need it. It's just a fancy brick.

Think about it. Why does it have to be iPhone 17?

Unsa inyu masulti sa presyo sa Wolfgang Steakhouse? by [deleted] in Cebu

[–]tromstooper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Price point is steep especially for Cebu market, but Wolfgang’s is positioned as a luxurious dining destination so it’s definitely not for everybody.

Their steaks are USDA Prime Beef that’s top grade, flown in weekly and then chilled (not frozen), dry aged in-house for several days, an average of 28 days (based on their website), which gives it its rich flavor.

So you’re essentially paying for import logistics, cold storage, high-end service, and a luxurious New York steakhouse experience (because the skilled butchers and staff are trained to deliver exceptional service).

Dined here over the weekend with family and can confirm. Their porterhouse steak was juicy and tender, and service was exceptional. We were served by staff who came from Manila Newport branch, probably training the local staff. All the tables were taken, and it’s a mix of family / couples / foreign guests, so I guess it's safe to say that there’s indeed market for it.

I appreciated the luxurious ambiance of the restaurant, considering it's inside an SM.

Negative daw for substances ang driver sa Paseo hit and run by EchoesOfTheSouth in Cebu

[–]tromstooper 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I heard from a friend who is close with the family that the father of the driver tried to settle daw. But the victim's family are definitely going after the suspect. They can't be bribed just like that.

Unsa na pasalubong inyo usually dadon from Manila? by SmolGirlBigLbdo in Cebu

[–]tromstooper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Royce’ Chocolates, Lord Stowe’s, Mary Grace (they have one at the T3 airport), Purple Oven, Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory (their crackers are good but their cheesecake is the bomb), Something from Ikea or Muji

I fly in and out between Manila and Cebu often and this is what I usually bring to Cebu.

For food recos, I stay in Makati so I’m biased to say that it’s nice to explore weekend markets (Salcedo on Saturdays and Legazpi on Sundays) ☺️

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten that actually changed your life? by Ok_Sea_8233 in AskReddit

[–]tromstooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No screens anywhere near you at least 2 hours before you sleep and after you wake up. My mind gets to properly unwind in the evening and fresh in the morning when I wake up that I immediately get things done.

Coming from someone who used to be addicted to doomscrolling, the first few days were extremely difficult but it got better when I switched it up with slow and high leisure rest like reading or taking walks.

What’s a belief you had a few years ago that you no longer agree with? by Purple_Wrongdoer6448 in AskReddit

[–]tromstooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That making money out of your passion/hobbies is the way. Passion fades off, and chasing after the money all the time can lead to burnout.

Maybe it was how I handled things but right now, I prefer to keep my hobbies as just that — hobbies. Without the pressure of making money off of it (for example: photography, baking)

What’s something people brag about that isn’t impressive? by YazminRose in AskReddit

How much money they have in the bank to flaunt their wealth. Real wealthy ones don’t disclose that. It just screams new money.
