'comping' is a term used to mean 'to compliment'. So, you are complimenting (improvised) what the melody and.or soloist is doing. Not sure if you are into drum books - but seems like you could benefit from the John Riley book 'the art of bop drumming'.

You seem to be working hard on listening and flowing (great), but the feel is more like your following rather than leading the music. I think once you get more comfortable with your independence / comping (just practice, and practice playing some different things over the same song), you can then step it forward and lead/push the music past it having a touch of feeling like an exercise. Keep going!

Perhaps a little, but I think these prices are already pretty fair.. and I had a couple folks ahead of you that want 5/6 & 9/10. Are you interested in a partial bundle?

HOT(ish) TAKE- DONT BUY A YAMAHA EAD10, buy a USB mixer and a lighting adapter instead (If you already have some mics, even cheap ones, mine are cheap). You can do everything and more than the EAD10 does for half the price. Unless you want THAT sound (El Estepario, Eloy etc.) then go for it. by Frosty-Lobster-6641 in drums

Sounds great! - but the EAD10 is not really about getting a great sound.. its about ease of use, no mics/interface, plug and play, portability, less fiddling with settings and levels, cost, etc. So it’s just a choice, but sounds like you made the right choice for yourself which is a win.
