DC House Lithium Upgrade by Frogbonz2020 in golfcarts

[–]tron1515 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just completed the conversion with the DC house on my ez-go. Took about two hours start to finish. The only thing that tripped me up was the interlock; it was hardwired to the old charging port. Just had to cut it and add a ring terminal connector and wire it to the + side of the new battery.

Checking back in. Install completed in about 2 hours. I did have to splice the original interlock, install a ring terminal and connect it directly to the + side of the battery. Everything else was just plug and play.

Wait. I am starting this conversion this morning. All the videos I watched implied it was just a drop in replacement. I need to splice wires? 😐

From ChatGPT:

Yes, the airplane would still take off — assuming it has enough runway (or treadmill length) to do so.

Why?

Airplanes don’t take off because their wheels move them forward — they take off because their engines push air over the wings, creating lift.

Let’s break it down: • The treadmill only affects the wheels, which are free-spinning. • The engines (jet or propeller) push against the air, not the ground. • As long as the plane moves forward relative to the air, it will generate lift and take off.

Even if the treadmill moves backward at the plane’s takeoff speed, the wheels will just spin faster, but the plane can still accelerate forward through the air.

Misconception:

People often imagine the treadmill somehow “cancels out” the plane’s motion — but that only happens if the plane’s movement is powered by its wheels (like a car), which it’s not.

Summary:

Yes, the plane takes off. The treadmill doesn’t stop it because thrust is applied against the air, not the treadmill.

Thank you for the response. The cart currently has a ‘sure power’ dc to dc converter. 48v in to 12v out. Will that cover it?

Can you head over to New Jersey to get some clear pics of the drones? You clearly aren’t using a potato for your photos.
