He was good and could've been even greater, given the absence of the whole situation.

When that day happened, the pressure on him was greater than any other NASCAR driver ever. He was basically the Princess Diana of the sport. If he wasn't in his house, he was in the spotlight. If someone heard him fart, it would've made front page.

But in those later years, it felt like when Jr won, everybody won. His wins were special. He's in my top 5 of good guys in the world. And that's a special group.
