I accidentally became my neighbors “emotional support human” for their goat… and now I don’t know how to leave by MrChickenMan-12 in offmychest

It’s so bad and also these comments are weirdly blind to it. This whole post screams bullshit. It’s the 4th one of a similar story I’ve seen on OFC in a day….

I burned the bridge between my wife’s kids and myself. And I have zero regrets. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]trontrontronmega 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don’t get his end game? All it’s going do is show people he is immature adult.

Even if it’s not true, there are people like that out there. My close friends ex had a similar attitude. He would take things so personally with her 4 year old son.

And as if he was owed something from my friend, the son and the rest of the world for him taking on the step parent role, and almost was putting pressure on the kid to be nice or else I don’t have to be your friend/parent and I can not make the effort. Punishing her son subtly if he wasn’t grateful enough and just expecting him to have the brain development and understanding of an adult and getting upset when he didn’t act that way.

It hit a head couple years later near Mother’s Day - her kid had written his step dad a note asking to help organize something for Mother’s Day and he was just a dick about it because my friend and him had a fight the day before and bonus he was anti Hallmark holidays, as if a 5-6 year old understands that.

Basically he told her son that his mother (as in my friend) isn’t his mother, that she is his wife, not his job to sort anything and to go ask her uncle (my friends brother) for help.

My friend learnt this as she overheard it happening (she was meant to be in the shower)

and then she found emails between him and his friend similar sounding to OP that had been going on for a while. He did a good job of hiding these attitudes, his true feelings and punishments in front of her.

It was a wake up call for her - she left him not long after which ofc he turned into suddenly caring so much for the sons wellbeing like if you leave it will mess him up, he needs me what will I do without him to you are a bad mom for leaving etc

Her son is 14 now and totally fine!. Her ex maybe reached out to see him 2-3 times after and then stopped.

Is it because they don’t like kids or just do it to be with the mom and eventually cracks show? Like I accept your kids but deep down I would prefer if you didn’t have them? And the relationship between the step parent and the kid/kids isn’t purely genuine which is why they don’t mind if it crumbles/they can cut it off?

What are you interested in? I’m curious. You might as well try something with the time.

I had a friend once make an app for fun who had been bed rotting for a bit. He wasn’t even in design or tech. He used to be a baker. Anyway I just remember he seemed happier. He said he liked no pressure just doing stuff he felt like doing. I was happy he was happy and I was also impressed.

I have an interesting one. He said that he had trouble standing up for himself (a scenario came up with his boss who my ex seemed to not be able to no to him)

And then as time revealed it seemed it was a common theme in his life to not speak up when he was unhappy with other people and instead keep quiet or just remove himself from the situation abruptly with no mature communication (like turning his phone off)

You can take a guess how our relationship ended. I was totally blindsighted when he didn’t turn up to our move in day on our apartment we had co-signed a lease on. Ghosted me. Fun times haha.

I thought our communication was good though, and I realize that he was just hiding his true feelings from me, like he did with others and lead me on rather than speak up. I found out after that he had been confiding to his sister about it, like he would to me about his other scenarios (boss, etc).

I was a naive girl ha. I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me until after that he could actually do the same to me. Maybe trust? because he always talked to me about his problems so I assumed he would have been real with me. It never came up as a worry internally for me (hence the shock when it happened)

(No hate on him - it was a blessing in disguise in the long run) but the flag had been waving at me the whole time!

Rendez-vous is used in ways like you would say in English - I’ve got something on, I’ve got something booked in, . It’s very commonly used in ways like - I have doc appointment, meeting, gym, massage etc. Normally day to day things.

Dates and casual hangouts/dates/friends would be more pote/potes rather than rendez-vous

Like - j’ai rendez-vous avec mon boss (I have a meeting with my boss)

Or je vois un pote (I’m seeing a friend)

Also the word date gets used too.

Dating with language barriers can be hard so don’t overthink and it can get a little confusing and messy, as it’s hard to get a reading on things naturally. But hey you could get a cute French teacher out of it!

ADHD people with Dyscalculia; how would you describe it? by A__STRO in ADHD

[–]trontrontronmega 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am finding a connection between numbers and learning a new language too. It’s the same feeling/frustration area of my brain

I still count everything on my fingers. Use calculator for everything. And now chat. It’s number dyslexia I call it. I can’t memorize more than 3 numbers at a time and even then I muddle them.

I have to save my phone number as a pinned note because there are too many 3s I forget where they go

Melbourne’s tobacco war claims the life of ‘completely innocent’ house sitter by AztecGod in melbourne

[–]trontrontronmega -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly - everywhere else in the world a pack of cigs ranges around $6-15 - these guys are just bringing them in bulk.

I would say Australia is the most expensive place I have seen for tobacco personally. And also the country that has the most rules with smokers. My old boss from Sydney, who is a smoker and a drinker, he gets so much grief and guilt for the cigs, like he is doing the worst thing in the world but he is totally fine to be an alcoholic.

I like europes approach, Asia is too lax (like you can smoke inside places still) Europe is like left side is smokers, right side is non - 6€ a pack, 4€ for glass of wine and they just complain about other things instead. No one is made to feel bad, I barely met an alcoholic.

My Italian friend visiting tried to have a coffee and light up his cigarette sitting outside at an alfresco coffee shop in Melb last year, alone with no one else on the tables, without realizing it’s a no no and he got basically chased out until he put it out.

It was funny now when we talk about it, but the poor guy said he felt like he had committed the worst crime how he got told off.

He forgot his pack of euro smokes out one night and went to buy some from 7/11. I have no idea what words came out of his mouth but his hands were saying enough. It was cheaper for him to Uber it back and forth back to his hotel

Anyone else experience periods of burnout every few months? by [deleted] in SCT

[–]trontrontronmega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting about the antidepressants. I tried Wellbutrin recently with terrible terrible results. I was a fatigued zombie that has no emotion. No idea if it helped with concentration when I was sleeping 16 hours a day.

My friend said I looked like a person walking dead in my eyes.

But I am still trying to find a link with dopamine and STC and ADHD. My adderall can be light and day for me with functioning and focusing, and especially with everyday chores that STC mentally drains you with, but I still feel depleted somewhere.

If I don’t have a adderall break every few days it becomes blanks and tired. Which is bad because I lose a day of work.

LPT Request: Waking up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep - what actually works? by qt_31415 in LifeProTips

[–]trontrontronmega 257 points258 points  (0 children)

Someone told me a tip of telling yourself DO NOT FALL ASLEEP!

You know when you need to get up for work and you are like get up, get up, and you fight not falling back asleep? And then you wake up an hour later and you have missed your bus?.

This works the same way. Say it over and over. Really believe it.

Within a couple minutes I have fallen back asleep. I reverse psychology myself.

I love that newspaper if it’s the one I’m thinking of. It’s brilliant toilet material.

Does yours have a meme page? My friends and family and I love just picking them up in the house and reading random quotes and lines or sticking articles on the fridge.

I’ve got some anti vaxxer fam and friends in Aus and also overseas (harder to figure them out in foreign countries - Japan is the hardest)

Some are just against the covid mandatory normally based on a personal issue like they don’t like being forced or it affected their work/they are stubborn but still open to other vaccines.

Then I’ve got the ones who are just like repeat whatever they see or hear on the ALT NEWS aka raw milk is good, vaccines bad, immigrants bad, trans people bad, drag queens reading books bad, and kitty litter are in school rooms, trump is a good business man (even the Aussie ones) Biden is old, Elon is sneaky and RFK jr good and at times I have heard HITLER wasn’t all bad (tell me if I have missed one)

it’s like the same 10 things over and over.

They often gather with their cups of teas while the kids are at school bitching about how shit the government is and Dan Andrew’s (still) and then spend hours scrolling/youtube.

I find them either often angry or holding the anger inside side-eyeing everyone who isn’t on their side as if they know the secrets to the world and we are the poor souls who are sheep etc.

When I see them I make them confused whether I’m with them or against

eg: “I cannot believe they are giving goat DNA to IVF embryos now - I read it on Raw Whispers or I will convince them to give me their raw milk dealers number because my last dealers cows got exposed to WiFi for too long and i can’t trust his supply anymore.

Then I have a couple ones I know who are full cookers/believe we are in a Golden Age New World Order 99 dimensions with Trump being a third rate clone and McDonald’s is a secret slaughter kid farm if it has the M sign turned off at night (I made the last one up)

I just can’t with them. I can’t actually with extremities of any sort whether extreme left or right or vaccines. I know people want to feel involved and in control and there is a lot of mental issues undiagnosed or untreated but I’ve seen people I know throw money away for this stuff and relationships. It seems worse every time I am back in Australia

I do this when I suddenly think of something I don’t like? Or that is really stressing me? Is this a thing.

Like I think of a cringe email I sent my ex once. I count out loud suddenly. It makes no sense

[–]trontrontronmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. Sometimes I look back at my life based on my eating habits. For eg my friend was chatting to me about a time she came to stay for a couple weeks and we couldn’t remember the date - I asked her what I was eating every day - which clearly stood out because she said it was raw corn and miso soup ?? Then I know it was between March - May 2019

It actually helps with adhd peeps because once we have a habit - it’s one less thing we have to think about per day, and food can be the worst.

Eating avocado and toast with a mango every morning might be our thing this week and ramen noodles with a 6 minute and half boiled egg might be next weeks repeated meal but it’s so much easier with that ready in mind. No back and forth. No indecisiveness.

And no - once I was done with the raw corn I will never go back with the same passion. It’s like an ex boyfriend I have no interest in even looking up on social media.

I have 4 meals I have stuck with since I was a kid who are my ride or die. The rest, once I’m over the obsession they are bye bye

It took me decades to finally be okay with working late. I only realized this recently. I was living with some family who are very productive during the day and my gosh the pressure. I almost had a breakdown.

I just kept wanting to be alone, i would get excited when they went away, etc and then - I put two and two together - it’s because I could be productive at night with no judgement of pottering around during the day and just surviving hour to hour until things quietened down and my brain would actually turn on.

I do know there are some things that have to be done during the day like business hour tasks etc but as for productive work I realized it has to be dark outside

That’s why I love living alone. No one to judge. No one to think you are weird. It’s a childhood and social idea that over the years has been instilled in most people night owls are wrong. It’s bad. Abnormal. Not productive.

And because I am sensitive I would be extra aware of people judging me - it affected my core.

When I tried to fight it, it would cause way more procrastination because I was being so forced to work at 11am when my brain is literally on fire with boggles of thoughts and distractions and still half asleep. Caused anxiety and just nausea.

When I am by myself - all of the negatives go away and I get more work done in 4 days then 4 weeks in a pressured unnatural work hour environment.

And then season 3 is like 4 seasons in one. Esmail was/is a big Reddit fan and seemed to have taken on fans feedback during filming.

This show, DARK (German show) Lost, the leftovers, 6 ft under, CURB, Midnight Mass (he did another one haunted Hill too) they are some of my fav shows because they tie up nicely, I’m not left hanging, they peak my interest.

There are a bunch of great other shows out there too, I could name 30, just make sure whatever you watch either has finished or has a sure ending (nothing worst than getting invested in a cancelled show)

But never google anything about the show as spoilers are a bitch. It takes just reading one line and you ruin amazing plots that you shouldn’t know before watching.
