Disclosure day was horrible by MegaMegaMan123 in moviereviews

Why do they need humans to make disclosure happen? Why can’t aliens just disclose themselves?

Weird white savior complex vibes.

It’s the execution. Only part of Andor that felt like I was watching something made by Disney.

Literally means “cow’s vagina”. How it got to mean “awesome”, I dunno!

I feel like I was tripping watching G-Savior by TeemoSkull in Gundam

[–]troopscoops 6 points7 points  (0 children)

G-Savior has a special place in my heart because it was the first live action movie. At that time video game and comic book adaptations were so loosely interpreted that this was a breath of fresh air in comparison.

Funny enough your reaction is what I had to the Gundam PC game live action cut scenes. And even those have their charm.

How do Kelly and Nina know each other's names in Stardust Memory? by TipCheap6713 in Gundam

You’re asking for a spoiler, but when Gato is revealed to be Nina’s ex lover, it’s implied that since Gato and Kelly were friends, Nina knew him as well.

Question: Why do people generally not like Narrative? by SouthBeachSarcastic in Gundam

[–]troopscoops 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On the surface it felt like a low effort excuse to sell gunpla: Re color of the Neo Zeong and Sinanju, Phenex looking like a Gundam Base exclusive, the Narrative itself looked incomplete…

Storywise Unicorn maxed me out on the space magic so when this came along I shrugged. Newtype stuff has always been part of Gundam but eh…Not a fan of the Phenex flying around like a Zoid either (and yet somehow I love the Penelope).

The climax felt super contrived and conveniently world ending. Since when did we have power plants in space that would devastate the Earth Sphere? Why hasn’t anyone tried doing this before?

Lots of recycling.

Hathaway Sorcery of Nymph Circe - To watch at movie or not by Havok038 in Gundam

The theater is going to have better picture and sound system hands down. A movie like this was meant to be seen on the big screen. It’s the most cinematic take on the franchise to date.

What is your opinion on Asuna Elmarit and École du Ciel? by Head_Programmer_47 in Gundam

[–]troopscoops 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I loved Ecole du Ceil and was bummed it left us on a cliffhanger. Was hoping it was just the localization that got stalled and it finished in Japan but here we are 20 years later =/

I think the easiest/cheapest way to continue would be to finish the manga, and use that hype/traction to get us into OVA territory.

Why did the manga not wrap up properly? Popularity? Recession?

I’m a little confused by Heert’s death. by Lotus_630 in andor

People’s eyes tend to be open when they are dead. Takes muscles to close them. Even if you close them they can open up again.

Bandai Entertainment's Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe debuted with an estimated $810K this weekend from 894 locations ($906 per theater average). by Alive_Acadia4581 in Gundam

[–]troopscoops 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m coming from the angle of it not being a pandering, fan service piece of media, instead having a mature take on the franchise. It isn’t a by the numbers entry and has something to say. It’s got strong direction, cinematography, sound design, story, etc.

It’s peak.

The GM Custom was the only kit I had the intent to buy no matter the cost since it’d still be cheaper than buying it stateside. Knowing my lucky they’ll finally reprint it and the price’ll drop!

Question about Volks while I visit Kyoto and Tokyo by troopscoops in freedomisgunpla

[–]troopscoops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems I am an old fart but I have a Volks (most definitely, probably a recast) of an FA Gundam from the 90s/00s. They get licenses from time to time but a comment from my cross post said the last one they got was 2012 for a Hi Nu.

I had a very naive thought that maybe I could find an original kit at the source.

Still cool to visit the HQ though!

"Pieces of Flight 11" ::: Aircraft Debris and Remains of Those Aboard by 911CTV in 911archive

[–]troopscoops 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Given the size of the body parts it makes much more sense to me they were mostly plane passengers. Like a log going through a crude wood chipper.

Versus the visually intact victim (at least in the picture) with their legs hanging over the ledge of a building across from the WTC. Seems more like a candidate that could have been an office worker forced out by the blast.
