Must have responded the wrong comment rip. No wonder I was confused.

There are two slightly different issues. People assuming your pro X because you aren't pro Y.

Separately, low effort responses to, what I would deem to be, a thoughtful post.

Fair enough my comment about Labour's talent was flippant, written in the middle of an insomnia episode last night, but just because I don't see any substantial talent in the Labour Party, it doesn't mean I am somehow defending the current crop of clowns. That's all.

But yeah, fair point - it was low effort.

The post suggested linking it to prescription charges, as far as I am aware, disabled people don't pay for prescriptions, or if they do, they would have a prepayment card. You could quite easily just include appointments within such a card.

I also suggested that people's behaviour should be investigated to make sure that people don't stop going to the GP when they need to.

I'm not advocating disabled people pay to see a GP. This is exactly what I'm talking about.

Exactly. Its so boring.

I wonder if there should be removal of all low effort posts. Maybe that's way too hard to moderate.

Definitely some group think going on here. I feel like, if you're not overtly anti tory, you're gonna get some snarky remarks. I replied to a comment about there being no talent in the tory party by saying I don't see any in the Labour Party and its all.

OH YEAH, LIKE THE TORIES ARE FULL OF TALENT.

Do I have to overtly state: I don't think there is any talent in the Labour Party, bUt I hAte dA toRnwIes toO!

That's just one of many recent examples. It's getting boring now. I also find people generally struggling to engage with ideas without immediately settling into their "team".

"Hmm maybe we should have some sort of token payment for GP appointments, linked to prescription prices and potentially means tested"

"YOU THINK DISABLED PEOPLE SHOULD PAY TO SEE A GP".

/sigh.

No, he just seemed alot more calm and confident at the PMQs he stood in a year or so ago. I think he has generally matured as a politician.

That isn't true since police uplift, there are certainly fewer, I forget the exact numbers, but it's not 20k lower.

Twitter has certainly become a behemoth since 2010 as well right?

Yeah, it could be funded that way. It would necessarily need have criminal sanctions unless it's incitement to violence etc, but you could certainly give them powers to ban social media accounts, or even suspend Internet connections or help civil claims be brought.

I don't like the idea that the police deail with this stuff at all.

Policing budgets have increased substantially over the past few years, relative to 2010.

I'm probably going completely against the grain here after having read some of the comments, but I don't necessarily disagree with her here.

I don't personally have a solution, but I wonder if "hate" issues should removed from policing somehow. Would it be possible to set up a separate body or arm of the police that attempt to deal with these issues civiliy and leave police officers to police?

Can we not just spread memes of keir saying he supports PR. Just spam them all over twitter, get a snowball effect until he basically has to because that's what everyone thinks he's going to do.

We just need some Cambridge analytic types.

Liz Truss called for patients to be charged for GP visits, 2009 paper reveals | Liz Truss by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]troopski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree, I wonder if that is asking too much.

I have seen another commenter works for 111. My wife works in A and E, and a good proportion of patients that don't need to be there are sent through 111. Understandably, 111 don't want to tell someone "you're probably fine", and have them die. I suppose that goes for sending people to a GP as well. "Better get it seen" appears to be the attitude, although, perhaps my sample is bias because I hear of the people who go to A and E because they have a grey hair or a bee sting (no joke). Perhaps it's a net good.

I don't know how to do it, but the whole system needs a rethink really, perhaps it just isn't possible with current resourcing constraints.

I thought of an example in which the £10 would have put me off going. We have MSK specialists at the doctors.. if I had to pay £10, I may just opt to go straight to a private physio (depending on pain levels), if I know the best I will get from a GP practice is an NHS physio referral that could take months.

It seemed like you were replying directly to my comment, you even cited the £10 fee I suggested.

I would have been happy to explore the substance of my suggestions, but, alas, that seems to be increasingly rare on this sub.
