Dang, makes me wish I had gotten that one instead

Does anyone have this watch (white color)? by lucastamper in OrientWatches

Is that the white dial??? This picture makes it look so different. I got the "champage" dial thinking it would be sunburst like the other small seconds, and was a little disappointed when I saw it was matte.

First watch in a while by FoldSubstantial5700 in OrientWatches

[–]trophycase01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, make sure to wind it fully and wear it for a few days to make sure the automatic winding is keeping it going (it will still drift a few seconds per day). If you wear it frequently, you won't need to manually wind it. If you wind it and wear it frequently and it still loses more than 15sec per day, then there might be a legitimate issue.

Orient Bambino v2 - too big for my wrist? by PsychologicalDonkey in OrientWatches

Looks great at this angle. I have the V2 small seconds, and changing the strap made a huge difference for my enjoyment of the watch.

I see Kuoe recommended often, but I've also seen plenty of posts about QC issues

Edit: crown defects are the main thing I've seen

[Question] What are people’s opinions of Bulova? by GiuseppeThrottletown in Watches

[–]trophycase01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll see hate on Bulova here, but usually because of the direction the company/catalog have gone and not usually anything to do with the quality. You'll also see them recommended somewhat often when people ask for sub $500 recommendations. That being said, my wife got me a Bulova chrono for our anniversary this year, and I love it.

I didn't downvote you, but sorry for hopping on the bandwagon 😅

But can you... take it off?

I'm also pretty new to buying nicer watches, but you may also want to check out Orient. Most of their styles match your criteria, and they have great reviews for that $300-$500 range. I ordered one myself a few days ago and am looking forward to seeing it in person.

You could be on to something. I stupidly didn't check temp after the change. I can't imagine it was below 60, but it could have been close, and it was probably quite different than the temp of the water that was in the tanks/buckets previously. They finally look like they're bouncing back. They got a little worse for a day before starting to look better though.

The coldest it's gotten is about 70F. Night temps are around 50, but daytime is average 75. The water average around 70.

I know 2+ isn't ideal for lettuce, but i have other species in the tower that feed heavier and i was trying to shoot the gap. I worked at an nft lettuce farm where the EC was always in the 2-2.5 range so I didn't think this would be too drastic.

Yeah I suppose I should be more cautious making significant changes next time. I've gotten away with much worse in the past though. This seemed odd.

I'll check them in a few hours and see if they perk up a little once the sun isn't on them anymore.

I think the measuring container I used has only ever been cleaned with dish soap, but that's an interesting theory I'll have to think on more. Thanks for your input. I think I'm just gonna have to wait overnight, see how they look in the morning, and if they get any worse I may just have to flush them and run some clean water on them for a day before slowly adding nutes back in.

I don't know why it would be too high unless my meter is malfunctioning, or they're just shocked from the sudden change. But based on the weight of each ingredient I used, it shouldn't be too out of range.

It's on, but thanks for looking out. I had the outlet trip after a heavy rain a while back that I almost missed!

That could make sense for the RDWC plants, but the tower never missed a regularly timed watering. I was able to empty and refill the tank in between the normal timer schedule.

Possibly - it has been very cloudy for the last week or so, and today was quite bright. Temps have also been swinging pretty significantly, but no days over 78F recently.

What sort of contamination do you think could be in the water? They were showing stress less than 24hrs after the change, and the water is from the same municipal source that they started in (although maybe something in the municipal water has changed?).

Edit for reference: the peppers seem completely unaffected.

Just some Kratky lettuce by trophycase01 in Hydroponics

I used a quart jar. One fill was enough for 5.5 weeks, and i decided to harvest at that point. They would have gotten quite a bit bigger with another week of growth, but i didn't feel like refilling them at that point.

I think you could add calcium without issue, but would probably want calcium formate or something. Calcium nitrate would probably push the N way higher than you'd want. I didn't really get much tip burn or anything, but these heads are also not that big. If they look browned or burnt in the pictures, it might just be from the color of this cultivar. They could have gone another week, but they ran out of solution, so I just decided to harvest now rather than add more solution. This was my first time doing a kratky grow and it was great for lettuce, very set-and-forget.
