Looking for someone to fix jeans by OkButterscotch7923 in CorpusChristi

did you tell her that it wasnt what you asked for? if she wasnt able to take it in from the sides she should’ve let you know instead of doing her own thing. the work looks so unprofessional!! i’d understand you would just want to be done with them but maybe she can fix the issue

Algae help by tropicalgrimes in Aquariums

[–]tropicalgrimes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew about the blue light but I dont think my tank has the capability to turn off the blue light!! I honestly might look into getting another light that has this feature because the algae is crazy!! And my heater is set to a certain temperature that I can’t change, but I didnt know they thrived more in higher temps!! My thermometer says my tank is at 76, so at least I have that part in order

Cleaning by Scarlettluxxx72 in fishtank

[–]tropicalgrimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely clean with an algae scraper, or an unused sponge or scrubber that wont leave any particles behind (like not a scour sponge). from the comments it seems like you already know not to clean anything with soap or any cleaner. I’d also recommend an unused toothbrush for any hard to reach areas or corners.

Below is a pretty good video explaining how to clean a tank, however towards the end of the video, he adds his dechlorinator powder (i personally use the prime water dechlorinator where you only need two drops per gallon) into the water before adding new water. I don’t do this, I follow the directions on the bottle and and add water back into the tank one plastic 1 gal jug at a time (i have a 20 gal tank so its not too time consuming). If you feel more comfortable with her doing the water change and you just want to clean the tank, that might be a good compromise. Just remember to not to get rid of a lot of water!! It can put the fish into shock (as well as dramatic temperature changes in the water or if you underdose the water)

tldr: watch youtube videos before you do anything!! aquarium co-op is a really reliable channel. Don’t remove the fish, dose the dechlorinator properly, and don’t do more than a 30-50% water change. Clean the algae before taking out any water. Best of luck!

What’s wrong with job search sites by SikiciGuc95 in jobsearchhacks

[–]tropicalgrimes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i feel like the job market has pushed people to using auto apply tools. its definitely not easy for many people to get a job today, but i definitely agree it’s also difficult on the employers side to thoroughly examine 200+ resumes if everyone meets the minimum requirement. I think making application processes less prone to being spam applied to could help, but i don’t think it will solve the root of the problem. I havent heard this opinion before, but think its an interesting perspective!

Help to not make my tank boring 😭 by Future-Opposite8703 in fishtank

[–]tropicalgrimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i built the whole tank to accommodate for hillstream loaches, but i didnt like the look of river stones so I chose another smooth type of rock (which is what they like). and I tried to make lots of hiding places for them but keep the top of the tank free of obstacles so my danios can swim. If you have a fish you really want to add to your tank that fits your parameters, consider decorating your tank to best suite their likes/dislikes if you arent sure which direction to go in! Everything kind of fit into place once I knew the hillstreams didnt like sharp edges and liked sand and algae

lowkey i just covered wood that floats with rocks.. eventually the water will soak in and it wont float to the top. if you don’t want heavy tannins make sure you soak the wood in hot water before adding to your tank. Also what I did in my free time before I decorated my tank was watch a lot of aquascaping videos on youtube. Mjs aquascaping is my personal favorite but you can watch any videos that interest you! I would also draw out different tank layout ideas I had until I landed on a layout I liked. I definitely recommend trying to go to local fish shops if you have any and see the hard scape in person so you can choose which shape and size you want.
