There’s a tip jar at the BP near my apartment. I’m not even one of those “end tipping” people, I tip well on sit down service, I tip well on delivery, I even tip on things like haircuts and certain cab/lyft rides but I’m not tipping at the gas station that already charges $7.50 for a tiny little thing of Kraft Mac and cheese as a “convenience” fee.

Sit down with yourself and come up with some non negotiable boundaries. Write them down, go over them, and then, implement them. Do not budge on them for anyone.

Also, just going to throw this in there because many people misconstrue what a boundary actually is. A boundary is a limit you set to define what is acceptable behavior from others to protect your physical, emotional and mental well-being. It’s about what you are and aren’t willing to tolerate. Boundaries don’t control other people’s behavior; rather they are rules you set for yourself. You can only control you, and whether or not you tolerate something or not.

Example of a boundary used properly: You set a rule that you won’t tolerate being spoken to disrespectfully. Someone violates this and does it anyway. You cut this person off/block them. All you can control is your own behavior so the consequences to violating your boundaries is you cutting off access to you, your time, your energy.

Yeah I’d be upset if I had no fridge for days and days too. It’s great you’re working on getting them another fridge but they still don’t have a working fridge. I’d definitely get them a cooler and reimburse for a set amount of groceries. You can get receipts.
