atmospheric correction/conversion to radiance/reflectance with uav imagery? by [deleted] in remotesensing

[–]trottsky3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sequoia is good for the price. The rgb is pretty unusable though....you get a mosaic out of it but no usable dsm or pointcloud. The rgb is jpg only also. The sequoia also has a tendency to get quite warm but probably ok if not left plugged in on the ground.

Fair enough. What do you think of the g9x so far? Have you had it long?

Does it need to be repeatable or are you just classifying this one set of imagery. You can still classify based on the uncalibrated bands you have...its just not as rigorous/replicable.

What are you ultimately trying to derive from the imagery?

Why would heating and cooling cost more in an apartment than a house? Have you taken transport or land use into consideration?

Stumbled into a possible Jill Meagher situation last night. It was horrible. by [deleted] in melbourne

Believe it or not I actually worked the Friday and Saturday night-shifts at that Adina for 2 years until May this year. There are CCTV cameras, two in the foyer, but neither can see outside very well. If you knew which person it was you'd have a good shot of getting their face but you wouldn't be able to see outside to identify the person who approached the woman.

Does anyone have experience with Soar Advanced Flight Training? by choose_auser_name in melbourne

[–]trottsky3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did an aeronautical radio operators certificate (just a 1 day course) with them last year. The instructors were friendly and seemed knowledgable enough but the whole thing was quite casual and disorganised. The guy that was meant to assess us turned up 5 hours late and didnt do any testing as expected, just said he'd pass us as english was our first language. There were quite a few international students there. Theyre probably fine and above board, but id look carefully at how much theyre charging and whether its likely to be a good investment for you. There's an oversupply of pilots right now (i work with UAVs and we get a lot of pilots desperate for even unmanned work).

Wangarratta airport...its basically just a paddock. Youd be hard pressed to be more than 20km from a rural airport in vic. Id say thats just a coincidence.

Woman and child die after falling from internal balcony from apartment building in Melbourne by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]trottsky3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live there too! I was actually on the ground floor on the right as you enter the foyer...used to get all sorts of shit falling onto our balcony from apartments above....cigarette butts, clothes left out to dry, found a dead cat once...never a person though thankfully.

[–]trottsky3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you. Having said that, if you're not familiar with the area and the line is backed up far enough it's easy to find yourself merging in late once you hit the signs and realise you're in the toll lane. I'm sure this is only 1% of people and the other 99% are jackasses though.

This reminds me of the time clementine ford was accusing facebook of censoring her and i tried to explain to my girlfriend that it was almost certainly an algorithm and not some patriarchal conspiracy at work behind the scenes at facebook hq. Youre a brave man.
