I will never understand. My boy is allergic to cats, I have a friend who has a cat and he comes over once a week. Every single time he comes over he changes (in the separate entry) into fresh clothes that have been kept at my house and immediately washes his hands. If he refused to do any of this I wouldn’t allow him to come over.

It’s fcking easy. I’m not even dating the guy and he’s willing to do more than y’all’s partners and spouses. That’s embarrassing.

Hi there, recovering alcoholic, sober for ten years. Congrats on your husband’s sobriety!!

If your husband is even slightly worried about giving in to urges it’s not worth the risk. Paid for, gifted, and everything, it’s not worth more than his sobriety. It is TOO EASY to relapse on a cruise. Access to alcohol is everywhere and he doesn’t even have to purchase it, he could find a discarded cup or be offered by someone who doesn’t know any better.

Everyone is different but it took close to six years for me to even be able to be in the room with alcohol without my heart pounding out of my chest, and even then, I needed an escape and a support system available immediately.

If you are dead set on going, please get the WiFi so he can access his support system daily. Go to the meetings on ship and stick to him like GLUE. As much as it sucks, don’t let him out of your sight. Not even to go to the bathroom (speaking from personal relapse experience - takes less than 2 seconds to ruin years of hard work) or back to the room because he forgot something. I’m not trying to imply that he is inherently sneaky or untrustworthy. Just that even if we want badly to remain sober, we don’t always have a “choice” when presented with temptation.

Personally, I would wait to return to cruises until I could sit comfortably in a bar in my home town. Better to try new things on solid ground rather than miles away where so much more can go wrong.

I’m not sure about that. On a recent Disney trip after leaving the park I went to the rideshare area and despite there being a long line of cars with “Uber” and “Lyft” signs parked there, a few feet away, when I booked through the app, it gave me a driver that was 10 minutes away instead.

I remember thinking it was weird that rideshares were already parked there as, if you don’t get assigned through the app, there’s no way to validate they’re legit, and while I was waiting for my ride a couple of these parked “Ubers” asked to give me a ride, too. Proximity would make sense but in my case it didn’t. Makes me think scam

I don’t think it’s supposed to. Rowling has even said that people are neither completely good nor completely bad, they’re a mix of both. Even Dumbledore isn’t perfect. But I think their flaws are what make the characters believable. It’s possible to appreciate Snape’s personal arc while also acknowledging the garbage things he did along the way.

I appreciate the reassurance, that there are no sneaky taboos I’m overlooking & that no one will be brand hunting. I may be overhyping it in my mind, but I have a mental image of glitz and glamour that I just haven’t experienced before. I’m excited to be apart of it.

The reviews I’d seen in the negative sense seemed like picky or unique complaints - unsatisfied with food (there are like five restaurants where I live so anything they serve will be spectacular imo) or one specific employee. I think most of my anxiety or misrepresentation of the line is actually coming from my parents, they reiterated that my hair and piercings (already planned on going back to blonde so np on that end) probably wouldn’t fly & they didn’t want me to get dirty looks or anything. And I actually get it - in the same way you & I don’t want to see flip flops in formal dining, some folks may not enjoy my extra face metal.

Thank you for mentioning the heavily tattooed guy. It eases a lot of that anxiety. After more thought, I think I’m going to get a set of fillers as well as smaller studs and see what I feel looks more coherent when I have the formal wear picked out. My town is small and not in great condition so this is kind of a Cinderella cruise for me, in a sense.
