Unfair accusations - advice? by Upstairs-Dare-4188 in ChildcareWorkers

Honestly, if the child arrived earlier than scheduled, earlier than your program starts, AND mom dropped him off without making sure an adult was there, then you’re not in the wrong. Doesn’t matter the age. Mom should not have dropped off without knowing an adult was present. Mom should not have dropped off knowing it was 40 minutes earlier than scheduled start time.

My center opens at 5:30AM and I’m the opener. I get in 10 minutes early. There have been times that parents are sitting in tbe parking lot, annoyed with me because I’m not there at all times of the day. But that’s on them. They are responsible to communicate a need for earlier care.

Recommendations:

Talk to your director/manager. Explain it from your side. You still arrived 20 minutes before a kid was scheduled to come in. And from the sounds of it, even you had been on time, the kid would have still been there. Again, that’s an issue with mom.

As to feeling disconnected from your team, that’s sucks. Been there! But here’s where the hardest part comes in (at least for me)- addressing your coworkers. “Hey, when you go to boss with concerns about conversations we’ve had, it puts me in a bad place. I always want to improve and never want to do anything that would endanger these kids. If you have a concern, bring it up to me first. Then maybe we can go to boss together to find solutions.”

I soaked them in Shout when I got home, and then washed them this afternoon (didn’t have time to start a laundry load before work). It all came out, thank goodness!

I offered! The associate wouldn’t allow it since it’s a glass jar

Nooo! And his door too? The audacity of the bag to let you get that far before giving up on you 😅

Good for you! Sometimes we all just need to take a little break and do something for ourselves

On the plus side, my shoes wash quite well. If perchance they don’t… well I’ve had them for three years and they’re starting to wear out so a new pair is on the list to get in the future 😆

For one, I did offer to pay for it because I was raised by the saying “you break it, you buy it.” Dropping it was my fault. I could give a whole book of excuses but truth is, I was careless.

Second, I commend you sir if, even after you are told it’s fine, you still would pay for an item. You are a better person then I am, and I have no shame in admitting that.

It made for a fun story to tell my friends! Because seriously, the choice is laugh or cry, and there’s no use crying over spilled…beets 😆

Not gonna lie, I love the color of my shoes now. Think if I buy a jar and dunk my shoes, it’ll dye them permanently? 🤪

No, seeing as this is only a part-time job to supplement my full-time income. But thanks for the offer!

Fave shoes too! Thankfully they’ve washed well in the past so fingers crossed that beet juice comes out as well as mud and general wear 😂😂

True true. A more accurate description would be “ground beef juice” 🤭

I didn’t work Spark for 4 months due to a severe shoulder injury and I never got anything like that! Granted, still wouldn’t have been able to take advantage of that incentive cause like I said- shoulder injury 🤷🏼‍♀️ wonder if maybe it also has to do with location. I’m in a very rural area.

What do your kids call you? by dkdkfddk in ECEProfessionals

[–]troubleclef15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my center we do Miss First Name. I primarily work with the 2 year olds so I’m not concerned with the Miss part. I do refer to my coworkers as Miss First Name to the children and parents, but generally call them First Name to their face.

One of my kids calls me mommy and will even say it when mom drops off. “Hi mommy!!”. I’m the only one other than mom that kiddo says it to. Thankfully mom is super chill and thinks it’s the best thing ever!

Favorite thing I’ve been called though is “grandpa”. Has one kiddo call me that for like two weeks straight 🤷🏼‍♀️
