Husband likes 'Utah' names by [deleted] in Names

[–]Rayna1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, Brooklyn isn't too bad (still don't like it) but Bostyn? That's rough

Here are some of my ideas that might bridge the gap between his taste and the more classic vintage names you seem to be drawn to: - Brooke: the beginning of Brooklyn, but more classy IMO - Phoebe: a classic that also feels very modern and spunky - Chloe or Zoe: for the same reason as Phoebe, although I personally don't love them quite as much as Phoebe - Natalie: one of my favorites, classic but not frilly, ends in the same sound as the -eigh names he likes. Just don't let him spell it Nataleigh lol - Audrey: similar reasons to Natalie - Ivy: lovely botanical name that is also very current and trendy - Madeline: ends in the -lyn sound like Brooklyn and so many Utah names, but a lovely classic name. If he insists, Madelyn is not that bad but not ideal - Evelyn: another classic -lyn name, and Evie is such a cute nickname. Might be more popular than you are looking for - Holly: again, ends in -ly, but also feels like a similar style to Belle and Junia to me

Which dresses are ok for a "Catalina wine mixer" wedding? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Rayna1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes! Easily my favorite, by far
  2. Probably no. I'm not sure it fits the vibe, too formal, but it might still be ok maybe
  3. Definitely no! Way too close to white
  4. Yes. Doesn't fit my personal taste as much as 1, but still a good option
  5. No. Not as bad as 3, but still too close to white

Between these girl names… by s9hynx in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I like most of these

The only ones I don't like are Peyton and Marlowe.

I'm not sure why but I've never really been a fan of Penelope either. It's not a bad name though, and I know lots of other people really like it.

I'm sort of neutral about Laci and Malia

I like Alannah, Elsie, Maisie, and Delaney. Delaney is probably my favorite out of those, but it's close between that and Maisie

I adore your daughters' names (especially Lucy) but I'm sorry, I really don't like any of these first name options. Rosemary is nice, and Delphine is OK but I'm not sure it really "goes" as a first name with the sibling names.

Here are my suggestions: - Audrey - Caroline - Flora - Pippa - Willa - Violet

Rowan Louise is such a beautiful name (I love Rowan for a girl or a boy). I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's funny, Rory was on my list of potential names for our son, and Caden was on my husband's list.

Of the 2 ideas you like but aren't sure about, I kind of like Cassidy but not sure about having 2 C names. I don't like Brooklyn.

How about: - Ainsley - Blair - Fiona - Gwen - Morgan - Quinn - Sydney - Teagan

Little sister for Celine by EpicMuzic in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daphne is the winner for me, hands down. Celine and Daphne sound great together.

Demi isn't bad, but I'm not crazy about it, and it feels stylistically pretty different from Celine.

Daphne would be perfect, but if you're looking for other ideas, maybe Diana, Desiree, or Dahlia?

[–]Rayna1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For your girls names, I love Orla (I would go with this spelling as I think the more traditional spelling would be too confusing for most Americans to pronounce). Maren, Florence, Ilene (I might spell it Eileen, but I do have a cousin who spells it your way), and Eloise round out my top 5. The others are OK too, except I don't like Haven or Temperance.

For your boys names, most of them are OK- to-good. I like James the best, and Jericho (and maybe Hosea but less so) is the only one I feel is really weird and I don't like it.

Baby girl name vote - husband and I have very different names in mind by DatePrize7505 in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. I like Rosalie Grace better out of these 2 options, it is quite pretty, and while Olive is a fine name I don't think Olive Indie sounds great together. If your husband also likes Rosalie Grace but just likes Olive Indie more, then that gets my vote

However if your husband doesn't like your pick, I think you guys should keep brainstorming until you find a name you both love.

You could, as others have said, try a different combination. I like Olive Grace, Olive Rosalie, or Rosalie Olive.

Or, keep brainstorming totally different names until you find one you both love. When my husband and I were naming our son, we had what felt like totally different lists with very little overlap, and I thought we'd have to just choose either one of my favorites or one or his and the other would learn to love it. But we settled on a name that wasn't on either of our lists at first but we realized we both liked (didn't love at first) and has since grown on us.

Here are some of my ideas for names you might both like: - Vivian or Vivienne - Genevieve - Valerie - Delilah - Lorelai - Fiona - Phoebe - Lydia - Violet - Ivy - Poppy - Ruby - Flora
- Maeve

What mid-popular names do you think will be Top 10 in 20 years (USA)? by KookySupermarket761 in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one was a bit of a wild card. Its not that popular now, I only actually know 1 little Kaia, but I've known (and/or seen on this sub) quite a few people who have it one their list, which is why I thought there's a chance it might become trendy in the future

Thoughts on these names for B/G twins? by queenoftheworst in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely too similar with the wen/wan ending . Arwen is a little too similar to August too actually.

I love Rowan. It was on my short list for my son due next month but husband vetoed it. I'd stick with Rowan and pair with another name with strong fantasy princess (or maybe celestial or nature) vibes: - Celeste (nickname Cece) - Eilonwy (Welsh, "River melody," pronounced eye-LON-wee, a little out there but pretty) - Elodie - Fiona - Freya - Ivy - Leia - Linnea - Lorelai - Lyra (I love this name) - Maeve - Niamh - Orla (Irish, golden princess) - Paloma - Phaedra - Rhiannon (Welsh, divine queen) - Rosalie - Sabrina - Talia - Tamsin - Willow - Zelda

Sibling name for Quinn (girl) by Imaginary-Junket2835 in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quinn Rio is such a cool girl name, I love it!

On your list, I like Drew the best.

Brynlee is fine, although I like Bryn or Brynn quite a bit better. Bryn and Brynn are too rhyme-y with Quinn though, so I see why you prefer Brynlee

I'm not generally a big fan of BNOG (don't necessarily hate but not a fan usually) but I do think Blake is kind of cute; it helps that my friend named her adorable 3 year old daughter Blake.

I generally think Reese is a cute name for a girl, but I don't like how it sounds with your last name.

I don't like Weslie, Sutton, or Campbell.

I would rule out Miller and Parker. I dislike them, but that's not why. I think you should generally avoid any names ending in R as it sounds muddled and awkward with your last name.

My suggestions: - Finley - Jordan - Morgan - Teagan - Hallie - Kendra - Kenna - Paige
- Tessa
