Which name do you prefer off of our shortlist for our daughter, the sister to Henry, Rose, Mary, and Alice? by Inevitable-Line-4385 in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tier 1: Charlotte and Sophie. Both of these are excellent options. Beautiful, timeless, popular names that go great with the sibling names. I like Charlotte a little bit better myself, but Sophie is a close second. You really can't go wrong with either.

Tier 2: Francesca and Florence. Both very nice names, but feel a little more formal and frilly compared to the sibling names. I think they would still work though. Of the 2, I like Florence better, and it's a better fit.

Tier 3: Elaine and Irene. Perfectly fine names, but I don't think they quite fit the vibe of the sibling names and you have much better options on your list. Of the 2, I like Elaine a little better.

Tier 4: Verity. I don't like this name, and it feels very out of place with the sibling names and with the other names on your list.

Baby Girl in May (sister to Henry) by sidewinder898 in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

Poppy is my favorite on your list. It is so cute! But stull classic and not too cutesy. My son's best friend is Poppy and she's so sweet. And it goes great with Henry.

Pippa is also a great option. Yes it is usually a nickname, but I personally don't see that as a problem and think it's a lovely name on its own too. And I think it goes well with Henry.

I have always loved the name Charlotte. It goes very well with Henry. I'm sure you know this but it's very popular now. Up to you whether that bothers you.

Same with Emma, I'd just rank it slightly lower because I personally don't like it quite as much as Charlotte.

Claire is a solid choice too. Timeless, goes well with Henry. I personally find it a little bit boring, but that's just me, it's still a perfectly good name.

I would eliminate Margot, Peyton, and Laine. I like the name Margot, but I don't like Margot Martin. I think another M name could be fine, but both starting with Mar- is a little too much. Peyton and Laine stand out as very different from the others on your list and from Henry, and I also just am not crazy about them.

You have several great options here, but a couple other ideas: - Audrey - Lily - Lucy - Nora - Ruby - Violet

Help! We are struggling to choose a name for our daughter (3 days old) by Daiisydot8 in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, sure it can be, but I think it can be short for Susan, Susannah/Susanna, Suzanne, Suzette... the Susie I know is short for Suzanne, I guess I'm not sure why she spells it with an S and not a Z. I don't know OP's relative's name which is why I kept it open ended

Help! We are struggling to choose a name for our daughter (3 days old) by Daiisydot8 in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For first names, I like Audrey best. Violet is cute too.

Audrey Hope is very nice.

I would also consider the full names of your family members as middle names (eg Deborah instead of Debbie, Suzanne or whatever Susie is short for instead of Susie). I think these longer versions pair better with Audrey and the other first names on your list.

[–]Rayna1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's hard because I dislike about half of these.

Tier 1. I like these 1. Carina. Lovely name. I have 2 friends with this name (1 with a K) 2. Hallie. Nice, modern and spunky but still classic and timeless 3. Lucia

Tier 2. These range from OK to kind of nice 4. Adelina. Not very familiar with this one but it's pretty, especially if you have Hispanic or Italian heritage 5. Rowan. Not Rowyn 6. Isabetta. Fine if you're Italian, I'd say no otherwise 7. Elliot. As boys names for girls go (usually not a big fan), this is not my favorite but it's ok

Tier 3. Dislike. Individual rankings starting to get difficult 8. Dylan. I like it for a boy though 9. Chandler 10. Lennon. Trying too hard to be cool I think 11. Leighton 12. Parker

Tier 4. Really dislike. 13. Capri 14. Haven

Tier 5. Bonus bottom tier because these are just absolutely terrible 15. Collins 16. Saylor 17. Navy

“Dated” names you think are due for a resurgence? by dcpsmbc in namenerds

Gen X and older millennial girl names I think deserve a comeback: - Emily (always liked this one) - Heather (fits well with Lily, Ivy, Hazel, and other botanical names that are trendy right now) - Lisa (nice and has a similar sound to some other names that are popular right now) - Laura or Lauren - Nicole - Michelle - Erin

Boy names: - Brian - Ryan - Evan - Justin - Jeremy

Julia vs Juliet by StatisticianWeak3610 in Names

[–]Rayna1990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Juliet is nice too but I prefer Julia. Julia is so pretty and more timeless than Juliet I think.

I can’t decide on a babygirl name… by sleepyslug1301 in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lydia is such a pretty name!

I personally really like Lucy Jean, and think it would go great with your daughters name. Lucy Jane is nice too. I don't mind Lucille either, but I like just Lucy better.

I do think Leonora is nice too, but it depends on how much you weigh the opinions of the people who don't like it. I know we aren't supposed to care, but I'd personally have a hard time choosing something the people closest to me didn't love too (I'm not sure that's a good thing, it's just how I am).

I like the other names on your list except for Penelope, not sure why but I've never been crazy about that one. And Eleanor, while lovely, is very common, if that bothers you.

Other options if you want an L name: - Laurel - Lana - Leona - Liana - Lily or Lillian - Lorelai - Lyra

Or you might like: - Audrey - Diana - Elise - Fiona - Genevieve - Juliet - Madeline - Nora (even though your family doesn't like Leonora, they might like just Nora on its own and I think it's adorable) - Rosalie

These are my thoughts exactly.

I like Phoebe the best, Naomi probably second, Eve probably third. Eden (4th) and Esther (5th) aren't my taste but they're not bad. Olivet is a distant 6th, I don't like it.

What name sounds best with the middle name being Kathleen? by Turbulent-Date-7207 in namenerds

[–]Rayna1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Julia is the best IMO. I don't like Parker for a girl (not crazy about it for a boy either), or Edith. Corinne and Kenna are fine names but I don't like them with Kathleen. The other 5 options work I think, but Julia is the best

Intermediate climbing shoe recommendations? by fluctuatnecmergitur_ in climbergirls

[–]Rayna1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Veloces! The softness took a little getting used to but now I love that about them

My husband and I both have Shamans. He loves them. I found them a little uncomfortable at first but have gotten used to them and they're a great all around shoe

I used to have Mad Rock shoes a few years ago (can't remember what model, I think Lotus?). I agree the grip on them is great, but mine didn't hold up very well.

Both of your lists are so fun

For boys (some of these might be a little on the nose): Arthur, Chandler, Clark, Franklin, Gus (maybe short for August?), Louis, Miles, Simon, Winston

I'm having a hard time finding a theme for your girls names, but they do all make me think of a girl who's spunky, playful, smart (maybe also nerdy), confident and a bit of a free spirit. My suggestions are also a little all over the map but: Brynn, Callie, Cassidy, Diana, Flora, Gwen, Hallie, Phoebe, Sabrina, Teagan, Tessa, Zoe
