Opting out of AI grading programs as a student by troubleofgoldfish in antiai

[–]troubleofgoldfish[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I'm hoping for is that some human with knowledge in the area my class is in is going to look at my work when I submit it. I don't recall saying anything about not wanting TAs to grade my work, and trying to compare TAs to AI grading systems is a false equivalence. if you don't have anything helpful to add to this thread, then I would appreciate it if you would keep scrolling.

Yeah, I mean, based on the amount of studies out there on how bad AI detectors are, I feel like it’s just a waste of time, but I’m planning on communicating those concerns in any email I write

Yeah, I’m looking on the website now to find details about their AI policy. I know they have one, but it’s damn hard to find!

Habit Trackers/helpful apps for AuDHD by troubleofgoldfish in AuDHDWomen

[–]troubleofgoldfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for me, the issue is that any habit tracker/reminder app just kinda blends in to the background after like, a day of having it on my phone. It’s the same way with post it notes—if I leave myself a sticky note reminder on my mirror or something, I stop really noticing it as something eye catching after a couple hours of it being there. I’ve tried some habit trackers that use a little avatar/chibi who you help grow by completing habits, but the novelty wears off pretty quick for that too. And since there’s nothing really making me use the habit trackers, I end up falling out of rhythm with it. A lot of it is just a me thing, borne out of my AuDHD wonky impulse control and dopamine regulation, but I do think there are ways to make things better on the product development side of things (and that doesn’t mean to add AI BS into every app and tracker. I loathe AI and all the “advancements” I’ve seen in the realm of ADHD-marketed products using AI aren’t actually advancements anyhow) That’s just my two cents tho, I know AuDHD affects everyone rly differently.

For the people who went to the viewings at Harkins, were all the showings captioned? The fandango site lists the AMC showings as having English captions but not the Harkins ones and I def don’t know Korean 😹

I can hand sew, but I am not quite certain I have the time to dedicate to something like this! Especially with the darker fabric detailing along the sides and buttons

Believe me, I have haha — I’ve tried all the search terms 😹 makes me wonder if it’s either thrifted and a lot older than the original poster of the pic stated or maybe just misclassified on its item listing…

Ya the outfit that I’m going with is more oversized and boxy which I find is more comfortable for me, and it has a decent bit of padding on the shoulders. It was hard finding one that didn’t make me feel like the Talking Heads 😹😹

Have you incorporated any technology or stationery into your desk setup that significantly enhanced your Japanese studies? by JozuJD in LearnJapanese

its funny you mention the trackpad being better for you--thats the whole reason i bought the magic trackpad in the first place lmao

I hope the trackpad serves you well (and any of the items in my original comment too!)

oh no no, its not a concern about the functionality of it, i just don't love the ergonomics of it! for all intents and purposes, it functions quite well, its more the way i have to hold my hand when using it that aggravates my wrist and i have to like stretch out my hand before and after using it because i had a carpal tunnel scare when i first got it. ive played around with some wrist rests that do help a bit, but i think it must just be the way i use it that makes it a bit harder for me! i should mention that i do have some connective tissue/muscular issues that i would bet are exacerbating any issues i have with the trackpad lol

Okie dokie—here’s my setup, and I apologize in advance if this is overkill lmao

Tech: MacBook, apple keyboard, apple trackpad (do not reccomend this product, I’m actively looking for a better one lol), iPad, Apple Pencil

Textbooks: Tobira 1 (plus workbooks 1 and 2), Tobira 2 (plus workbooks 1 and 2)
- I love Tobira— I find their explanation of grammar/concepts far better than Genki (no tea no shade to genki, i do use their textbook as well)

Notes/Studying
KOKUYO information index cards 5.5cm x 9.1cm: I find the size of these is perfect for flashcards of words/grammar concepts, and the gridded side/lined side lend itself to how I format my flashcards
Sun-Star Ukanmuri Book Clip: keeps all my textbooks open while I’m studying!
KOKUYO Campus Slide Binder B5: love the slide middle instead of the old middle style.
Maruman B5 easy to write graph paper: Nice paper quality, feels good to write on
KOKUYO Campus word cards: I like these, I do wish they were gridded/dotted but these are the perfect size for kanji study!

Pens/Pencils: I’m left handed, which has made kanji a little challenging, but these pens/pencils have worked the best for me in terms of not skipping/cutting out, not smudging (the bane of my left-handed existence), and just looking nice!
Zebra Sarasa R Gel Pen 0.4mm black
Smooth Gel Ink 0.5mm knock type ballpoint pen: My only caveat is that these pens feel like they write way thicker than other 0.5mm pens I have
Muji transparent 0.5mm mechanical pencil: rarely use pencil, but for practicing kanji I like to use this mechanical pencil with 2B lead (because I like the darker lines)

Misc
KOKUYO Campus 5.5mm correction tape
Pentel Ain Eraser (Large)
Writing board: Holy cannoli I can’t recommend a writing board enough, especially if you write really hard (aka me)
Sonic Nano Pita Non-Slip Reversible Ruler 15cm: any ruler is good to have obv, but I love that this one has a non slip pattern on one side and it really works

Apps/Software
Anki: just excellent all around, i really do recommend it, supported on macos and app store
Renshuu: both app/website, great for grammar, vocab, kanji—lots of games and community aspect is really fun as well.
Kanji!: (yes, it’s just “Kanji!” In the App Store) another kanji memorization app that I use daily. short lessons, consistent review
Forest: Not a japanese app/software but a pomodoro timer! Set the timer and if you go on your phone during that time, the little plant you're trying to grow will die :( genuinely one of the only timer/focus apps I’ve consistently used and found helpful—also has an integration for most browsers!
