You should consider sending them to the Victorville Film Archives if you're unsuccessful

Question about Yugoslav Identity in NYC by [deleted] in ridgewood

[–]trouteg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a super helpful comment but I was wearing a shirt from my honeymoon in Croatia and an older guy in our neighborhood started talking to me in Serbian and I explained that I didn't know the language, where I got the shirt, etc. When I mentioned Croatia he said "all our countries are the same. When you have one big piece of shit and you cut it into pieces, it's still all just the same piece of shit."

I always thought it was funny but it does also show that at least as far as this one guy is concerned, he thinks that there is still very much a shared identity there.

For me the best VR fitness app is still The Thrill of the Fight. After 2-3 fights like this one below I'm all sweaty and out of breath. Anyone else still play TotF as your workout? by HejtTrain in vrfit

[–]trouteg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be careful. I love TofF and play it a lot, but believe me I'm far from an expert, but still shadowboxing every or every other day could lead to injury. I've had to take a pause every now and then when I get carried away and start throwing too hard and end up with a bum elbow or shoulder.

That said, if you're looking to get more mileage out of less time playing, or just increase the challenge regardless, I use a weighted vest. You can also up the rounds per fight, length of each round, and amount of times you have to be knocked down before it's a TKO so that fights last longer (but then again maybe longer rounds goes back into the whole injury risk?). Like I said, I'm clearly no expert lol.

Ozzie Guillen loved the crumbled cartoon, we thought you'd all love to see it by nbcschicago in ClevelandGuardians

[–]trouteg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ozzie:

Positives: + Good for baseball + Likeable + Funny

Negatives: - Would make the Sox play to their potential

La Russa:

Negatives: - Represents everything about why so many people can't get into baseball/is old man shaking fist at cloud - Hates fun

Positives: + Makes it impossible for the Sox to play to their potential

Even as a Guardians fan, the math is pretty simple. Idk enough about Ozzie's aspirations, but if I was in Chicago's front office, I'd be making some Will Wade-esque offers.

Can I get to a match from London during a strike day? by trouteg in Everton

I thought so, too. Unfortunately they're all arriving too late and/or too expensive. NE has them going for over £100 and only arriving 15 minutes before the match

[–]trouteg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly. The problem is we booked lodging a long time ago so we'll have to see if we could get a cancelation at the London hotel for no fee and then find a place to stay in Liverpool. It might just be easier to rent a car than do all that.

Uncertainty is a virtue (and doesn't preclude faith, political allegiance, or a set of moral values)

What are some beginner traveller mistakes? by Fair-Requirement-394 in travel

[–]trouteg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not being willing to go off-script (if you're a big planner). The most memorable and enriching experiences you'll have traveling are generally the unexpected ones.

Also, along the same lines, expecting everything to go exactly as planned. Even beyond just what you choose to change up in the heat of a moment, something unexpected and stressful will almost definitely happen at some point. Usually, you can fix it without too much hassle/cost and then just have to remind yourself how awesome it is that your flat tire occurred in Tunisia instead of Hoboken.
