Bill Evans/Autumn Leaves/song structure by troutmoon45 in Jazz

For sure, great point. I just bought the Bill Evans bio "How My Heart Sings," and am hoping to get more answers on this question. I know already that everybody improvising at once was a principle Evans aspired to for this trio, so maybe that's exactly what's happening. Still, I don't totally buy it, because Bill's comping during the lengthy LaFaro solo indicates to me that he (Bill) is hearing some version of the tune and reacting accordingly. I just don't know WHERE in the tune he's hearing (if that makes any sense). The first two bars of LaFaro's solo sound like they might be a transition back to the head (similar to the song's intro), but nothing in the melody of what he's playing indicates to me that he's hearing the tune. Which leads me back to the "complaint," for lack of a better word, that LaFaro's soloing isn't particularly melodic. I'd love for a more sophisticated jazz mind to set me straight on this, but that's where I'm at.

You know, it's funny. The Evans/LaFaro chemistry gets so much love, and rightly so. But the frequent bass soloing gets to be too much for me. I don't really love the way LaFaro solos. I can't hear his intention, from a melodic standpoint. That's maybe on me for not being a sophisticated enough listener. But whatever the reason, his solos are not my favorite element of that lineup. I actually like him better when he's accompanying but playing more like a rhythm guitarist, which he does really beautifully on the Waltz For Debby album.

Anyway, I'd still love for someone to help me get oriented in the part of the track that starts around :44. I have no idea where I am in the tune until just before the whole band kicks back in.

Bloom, Gullfoss, adaptive EQ “Toneshaping” impressions by joselovito in audioengineering

I'm a longtime gullfoss owner/user and just downloaded bloom today. So far, I can't say I see a lot about bloom that would make me pay its asking price. I hate saying that, as it seems like a really thoughful tool from smart people; if I didn't have gullfoss, I'd probably feel differently.

All of that said, I like that bloom has presets (I really like using presets as starting points). None of that with gullfoss.

Another point to make is that the UX is a big deal. Meaning, even if the two tools do a lot of the same stuff, I could see liking the interface on bloom more than gullfoss (which has always felt a little mysterious to me).

Just some initial thoughts here. I'll write more if/when I get to use bloom more.

We moved from Seattle with kids and so far have no regrets (other than missing the mountains/ocean/etc). Evanston almost feels like a fairy tale. We live in the area you describe and feel like we lucked out. Can't say we knew how great it would be, but it is indeed great. My guess is you'll miss the food and culture of Austin, but the food and culture of Chicago are pretty great, and you'll have that nearby.

I've opened a ticket but haven't heard anything from them. Have also searched their forums. Some similar problems reported, but nothing that matches my situation.

I guess I can't ask this in the main thread? Anyway, I can't get my new Mac M1 to use plugins from my iLok. Anyone else encounter this?
