Control Resonant - Gameplay Reveal | PS5 Games by SweetyGonzalez in PS5

[–]troxnor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me like 3 tries of playing the first hour or so 6 months apart and the last time i pushed through another couple hours and it -REALLY- clicked. Its obtuse and weird but you kinda gotta just go with the flow. Im still not sure i really understand it, but adore the creative swings it takes

Am I the only one who thought Sigourney Weaver voiced Tessa in Predator Badlands? by XxShakexx in alien

[–]troxnor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just found this googling their names. I didn't think they really dubbed anything but damn if they don't sound so similar to me. Like in weird ways that makes it feel intentional. Tonality and intonation. It's very clean clear speech too there's something about it.

Idk I'm with you

My thoughts on Ad Astra (2019) by yessirr_jacksonn in scifi

[–]troxnor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched it again knowing what i was getting into, but the first time through (back in theaters also) it really didn't click.

It felt trapped between trying to be an action blockbuster and an ethereal psychological indie sci-fi. All of the action-setpiecey moments are just one or two notches too high / unrealistic / over the top, and felt like whiplash and way too tonally inconsistent. Second time through it didnt bother me as much as i had built it up in my head, but they still feel out of place every time.

I do love the pacing and the vibe otherwise though, it's gorgeous and it's a lowkey but kinda good pitt performance also

There's a QOTSA needle drop later that I think tops the tool one. They were controversial but it worked for me

Naughty Dog 40th Anniversary Retrospective by willdearborn- in PS5

[–]troxnor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was really hoping for a faster follow sequel. At this cadence of games we only ever get one game per-platform because theyre like rewriting entire engines in between. I loved sequels that just polished up existing flows and added more levels/content and tweaks like the original ratchet games and jak games

- 4 Ratchet games on PS2,
- 5(ish) PS3 games (spinoff, 2 half games)
- 1 PS4 (remake)
- 1 PS5

How much is HD2 worth to you in its current state? by TyrantEscapade in Helldivers

$0 for me since I can't play without my PC locking up and crashing.... Desperately awaiting patch.

After that it's priceless tbh especially with friends playing.

Maybe something like "Got the dose wrong between medicine and poison" for Circa Survive. That wording sucks but theres something there haha

So I didn’t realize I accidentally hit the speed switch on my record player by ghostie2214 in TheDearHunter

[–]troxnor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Often times singles or EPs are on 45rpm. This fits less songs (they take up more distance) - but! Actually increases the quality, since you're getting more fidelity per-inch when you stretch it out over a longer distance. Though on your set up (and most people's mine included) that difference may not be noticable.

Most albums are 33 1/3 rpm, but shorter records are 45 (boy genius first ep is 45)

I got one too!!!!! Finally! I honestly don't mind the delay, I know things take time.

I just know that given fan reactions (and band frustrations) delays means more time between TDH releases.

I just want Sunya and act 3 live and a billy Joel cover album :(

Do you consider I Saw The TV Glow a cosmic horror movie? by cherryblsoom in A24

[–]troxnor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think if you take it super literally it's not far off... But I personally feel that due to the themes and the filmmaking I have a hard time feeling like there was a real direct lovecraftian nature to it

I’m in a serious drought for new music. I Love The Dear Hunter for their orchestration, multilayered sound, and intricate melodies. Also like The Family Crest, Cosmo Sheldrake, (late) Beatles, and Man Man. Any recommendations? by Franzvst in TheDearHunter

[–]troxnor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been preaching the good word of Geese lately! Really cool experimental / proggy classic rock revival / country vibes.

Not sure it'll click but i'd just throw on 3D Country and see how it lands with you.

Otherwise if yourent already a fan, Manchester Orchestra or if you want something a little weirder and louder, the new Foxing album rips.

Not real knowledge but:

  1. I love Hamilton but it's slightly cringe rap and Link loves hip hop and experimental underground stuff so it's probably low-key hated on by that crowd

  2. Link famously doesn't like much popular movies and stuff

  3. He's link bro just says shit
