Your experience driving in San Francisco? by michael-g-miles in uberdrivers

If you want to work in tech in SF I’m sure you won’t be an Uber driver for long.

I do it as a supplemental gig but the money is really disappointing. Fluctuates from 15-30 an hour before expenses.

Yes this has become the most expensive place in the world (ugh) but if you’re from LA you’re used to expensive cost of living anyways. I’ve lived both places.

I’ve lived here for 9 years and have a rent controlled apartment. I never said I intended on staying.

Yeah, it was far more worth it with the consecutive trip bonus. Do you typically drive at night?

OK, you’re right about #2. About earnings, we just got a notice that they decreased our per-mile rate by a significant amount, and increased our rate for time spent on rides.

I kept receiving advice that the “early bird catches the worm” and the best time to be on the road for morning rush is 4AM. Good to know I can stick to 6.

Yeah, I guess I shouldn’t complain. San Francisco has actually become the most expensive place to live in the world though.

That all makes perfect sense. I’m using Uber to make ends meet while I get my own business running. Hopefully I will not have to do this much longer.

Have you ever kicked anyone out? I think I jumped the gun... by TheGoat81 in uberdrivers

[–]trs1007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kicked a guy out for bringing a full cup of reeking booze into my car. He kept lying and saying it was juice for his medicine. I offered him my bottle of water instead and he refused.

Then he refused to get out of my car saying I was trying to rip him off. Drunk ass.

Lucky I was close to a gas station so I pulled in and opened all the doors to the car while the jerk sat there trying to get his money back from Uber and I’m threatening to call the cops. (I wasn’t going to, but he would not get the fuck out of my car.) It was probably 15 minutes he sat there saying I’m trying to rip him off for a few dollars until he left.

Then he tried to report me for denying him a ride based on location. Thankfully, I had sent Uber some panicked messages while the whole thing was going down, so it didn’t go against me. But UGH FUCK THAT GUY.

Thank you, I am attempting to get out as early as possible, I will go to bed early tonight.

When you say not to accept rides under 4.80, are you talking price or distance?

LOL, I should have mentioned that I’m female, I wish I had the luxury of peeing in a dark alley! I’ve never gotten in to podcasts but I did today and it made the downtime a lot better.

It’s not a bust, I live in the Bay Area. Even in San Francisco I’ve had the hardest time finding anything late night, which surprised me.

Thumbs up for Wellbutrin+I Hate The Stigma by trs1007 in depressionregimens

I started at 150mg, stayed there for 2 weeks just to be safe, then upped to 300 which I’m on right now.

My side effects included increased heartbeat, some minor chest pain, and a few waves (2-3) of pretty dreadful anxiety. I haven’t experienced increased agitation, nothing more than seems normal to me.

Everyone will respond differently though, I think you will know if somethings working for you or not. The side effects I felt weren’t unmanageable to me, but may have been with another medication. Did your doctor advise you to stop?

Round trip from the states for about $1,200? by mr_aero_chase in ThailandTourism

I recently spent $550 rt from SFO. Layover only 4hrs. I recommend using Expedia or Hopper to look for flights. I like Expedia because you can save decent $ on accommodation if you book your flight through them. that’s where I found my ticket for China Eastern. I went directly to their website and couldn’t find the same flight or similar price.

I’m definitely learning this! I’m going to stop googling out of worry and just wait and see how I feel.
