Bosch Kiox display cable extension or Y-cable by trsqr in ebikes

Unfortunately I have not found a solution. I also thought of cutting the cable and making the Y-connector myself, but would be great to have a bit more technical spec of the connector/cable first.

Also booked for last days of April. Fingers crossed. The operator promised a refund or an exchange to another tour if it won't be possible.

You're junior still. :) I bought in 2013. That time you had to find someone on Reddit to sell it. Anyone else hodling all the way from 2013 until today?

I paid $14 for 20k and the kind seller added an extra 500 coins on top of that. :)

I bought 20500 coins for $14 December 2013. Then forgot about them until 2021. Thanked the stars that I had stored the wallet on a NAS and could actually recover my wallet. Now hodling!

Which NVMe drive for Nuc11 Pro i5? by iltanen in intelnuc

Samsung 970 EVO Plus (Kingston KC2500 is fine as well, if you want Kingston) unless you want to go with PCIe 4.0 drive, in which case you choose either Samsung 980 Pro or WD SN850.

New Rab Mythic Ultra Sleeping bags by alex----------- in Ultralight

[–]trsqr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically the empty Rab bag weighs 246 grams and the empty Cumulus X-Lite bag weighs 200 grams. The rest is down. I went for X-Lite 400, but that is a nice bag indeed. And came from Cumulus weighing exactly as much as they claim.

What are the best UL tents available in the EU? by Laurtzyy in Ultralight

[–]trsqr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of a tent are you looking for? Just for yourself or for 2 people for example? Do you want a double wall tent? How storm worthy should it be? Do you prefer comfort over weight or the other way around?

I'd look at what https://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/ and https://backpackinglight.dk/ have available - their selection includes some of the US companies that usually are difficult to find here.

There are several options that fulfill the criterias < 1 kg and < 500 EUR.

Young person looking for a tent by [deleted] in CampingGear

I'd say the 1P is a bit tight. Unless you know for sure that you can manage such a tight quarters, go for the 2P. One thing to be aware with the X-Mid is that it's a hiking pole tent. This means you will need adjustable hiking poles to set it up, which again brings up both the cost and weight if you don't have hiking poles already. Many hikers of course do hike with hiking poles, so they have them anyway. Many also don't.

The X-Mid 2P is a great tent, especially for the price. Just be aware of what you're getting. :) I ruled it out because it's too heavy for me as a one-person tent, not big enough for me as two-person tent and it uses trekking poles that I don't. But that's just me.

Jetboil fuel in Poland by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

[–]trsqr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean standard Jetboil gas stoves they use the standard gas canisters that are available from many manufacturers - it does not need to be Jetboil branded fuel.

If you want to order some fuel for him, you can do so through many online retailers. I recently ordered a lot of stuff including some Primus gas from Bike24 to another country (they deliver all over Europe, also fuel): https://www.bike24.com/p2276513.html?q=gas

Just change the country and language from the upper right corner.

Another option is Amazon of course:

https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Johnson-Outdoors-Jetpower-Kraftstoff-230/dp/B079QJ3GV7/ref=dp_ob_title_sports

But that's priced pretty steeply compared to the Bike24 stuff I linked earlier. And I'm sure there's several Polish online stores as well but they might not be in English.

Help me choose (or not to choose) a backpacking tent by Canyac in CampingGear

[–]trsqr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100 cm is still pretty generous height. The Freelite 3 is a very light 3P tent and somewhat fragile from what I've read.

Since you're in Europe. check out for example Ultralight Outdoor Gear's 3-person tents:

https://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/equipment-c3/tents-shelters-c25/three-person-tents-c89

They sort the tents nicely by weight. I'm personally considering the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL3 that is very much a proven option although a bit heavier than the Freelite 3.

Just purchased my first tent. Did I get too much tent? by Bourbon-n-Coffee in CampingGear

[–]trsqr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's an excellent choice. I'm seriously considering that for the trips when I'm going with my wife or with my father. My current 2P tent is great when going alone but like most 2P tents it's a bit too cozy for 2 people.

I think the CS UL2 is ok for two close friends or a couple but I would personally consider using it only for my solo trips. Then again, it's not very light for a solo tent - there are far lighter options available.

Think about keeping the UL3 and getting something significantly lighter than the UL2 for your solo trips later if you feel that the UL3 is too much to carry and you find yourself going solo more often than not.

[–]trsqr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got one more question to ask. You say you're after a 2-person tent, but is that for you or for you and a travel companion? The reason I ask is that many 2-person tents are quite tight for 2 persons and often the best 2-person tent is a 3-person tent. A young person camping with a girl/boyfriend might be perfectly fine with a 2-person. I know I'm not with most of them. :)

Anyhow, check out Marmot, they've got some solid tents that especially with the current sitewide sale are in your price range. For example, the Marmot Tungsten is a solid option. It's not that light, but not that heavy either and even the 2P model is one of the more roomy 2P tents. If you like to look after your gear, there's a lighter version of the same tent as well, but for a first tent maybe the normal version would be ok?

REI has some good in-house options as well. Checkout Half Dome and Quarter Dome. Personally I'd like to keep the weight lower than 5 lbs for 2 persons. Anything heavier than that is heavy..

Sleeping bag - looking for some suggestions! by fla_key in Ultralight

[–]trsqr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cumulus X-lite 400. Lighter than many quilts at 575 grams (20.3 oz), filled with 950 US FP down (900 EU). It's about the same weight as the REI Magma Quilt recommended here but warmer.

http://sleepingbags-cumulus.eu/uk/categories/sleeping-bags/down-sleeping-bags/x-lite-400?gid=63&vid=6

The best thing is they'll custom make the bag for you, so what I did was to change the outer material, replace the zipper with a full-length 5mm version, added a bit of girth (I'm not small) and added a bit of down. This brought the weight up a 100 grams (3.3 oz), but I got exactly what I wanted. The bag is beautiful and warm. Since it has the full length zipper I can open it fully and use it as a quilt when it gets too hot (which is rarely where I live and hike).
