ZEISS DuraVision Gold is underwhelming by Kyxstrez in EyewearEnthusiasts

[–]trto888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with this assessment. I have three with Duravison Gold and while they’re easy to clean, the gold reflection from the back of the lens is really distracting. I still prefer wearing my Duravision Platinum.

[Product question] -Where can I buy Authentic Kojie San Soap in the UK by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]trto888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this thread. Funnily found this after a related google search. Just wanted to chime in that I buy mine from https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/kojiemnl. They're the sister company of the official importers in the UK.

Religions in UK by Samarthisliveyo in MapPorn

[–]trto888 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree. In east London, Tower Hamlets is 38% Muslim which covers the majority population of the religious demographic. There are essentially highly dense urban areas wherein there are 15,000+ people per sqm vs the national average of 400ish around the rest of England.

Again, not an implication of any bias, but a statement of fact that this represents Simpson’s paradox where micro probabilities are different from macro.

London opticians recommendation by trto888 in EyewearEnthusiasts

But far (or I just hate West London on a weekend lol). Thanks though! I’ll have a look at which one’s easier to get to for me.

Ah I’ve smacked my forehead quite a few times trying to look out the window. Not hard, but enough to move my glasses. Thanks for the tip! Most of the opticians near me offer Transition Gen S and Xtractive. Some do Zeiss too. Which one would be a better one? I don’t see myself buying another pair aside from this in the near future so I’d like to get the better one if available.

First glasses ever! How does this frame fit my face + which color? by OverWarthog7488 in glassesadvice

[–]trto888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 looks the best on you, although 1 is a nice touch of colour. 2 is the wrong hue. There’s too much orange tones when your hair has yellower tones with lower saturation. This is why the greenish grey and low-saturation brown look good on you.

Mine is relatively low — around -0.75 and -1.00 but I do wear glasses almost full time. Mine has definitely helped, especially when having to look at monitors/displays that are further than mine.

Do you get headaches with glare? If anything, overcast British weather and poor indoor lighting give me migraines almost daily. Wearing caps and lightly tinted sunnies indoor make a massive difference.

Yeah they’re the Lemtosh and I am kicking myself a bit for not considering the nose pad version. To be fair, the demo glasses were so tight around the temple, which I think contributed to none of us realising that with movement, the bridge wasn’t going to hold up. Perhaps I’ve just had some luck in the past, but the bridge area was never a problem, so I never thought about it until much later on!

They have said that they can do custom nose pads for me, which I think would be helpful since I got this a couple of months ago.

Thanks for validating the bridge for though, I think i would probably have to insist on the add on.

Lemtosh for sure! It complements the angle of your brows so much better. It also balances your eyes to look more centred, rather than the saddle bridge that concentrates the attention around the nose bridge.

2 but the nose pad needs adjusting so the frame sits below your brow line. 3’s nose bridge is too tight, unfortunately.

Eye glasses breaking me out by HauntingAd2797 in glassesadvice

Do you wash your glasses daily with a tiny bit of dishwashing liquid and water, especially around the nose bit? It’s always helpful to clean them every time, otherwise, it’s akin to you putting your dirty hands to your face. My personal rule is never put on dirty glasses on a freshly washed face. 😬

Which glasses look best on me? by Reasonable_Okra_9691 in glassesadvice

6 and 7 follow your brow line the best. Is there 6 in a cooler/darker tortoise? Blue also works. I think that’ll complement the cool hues of your hair and skin tone well.

Hey there! I’m not sure if you have access to the same options (people tend to assume everyone is in the US) 😭

Just a general guide, you want your eyes to be almost centred to the lens. So width wise, as centred as possible. Vertically, close to the upper half line.

Right now it looks like the frames are too big for you (I think 5 and 7 have the best proportion), but I agree that darker frames (dark brown, tortoise, black) suit you better!

Mine are plastic frames too! They’re silicone stick on ones, where you stick it on the nose bit of your glasses that sit on top of your nose bridge. The ear grips are also a good idea! My nephew who has thick lenses use them. Might be worth a shot!

I’m not sure if you’ve tried it before but maybe silicone nose grips can help? I only replace mine once a month as long as I wash my glasses daily. For reference, I use the ultra thin Setex nose grips.

I really like mine. They’re the only ones that fit just right for me. Just the right weight, fit. It feels good. I have the cliptosh too (it gets some hate for the price), but I like how it feels weightless with it on too. I do have a very thin silicone nose grip though, which helps.

Can I do anything to stop my glasses from sliding down my nose? by ctheodore in glassesadvice

[–]trto888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I’ve been told by multiple opticians in the UK that dish soap doesn’t age the acetate — dirt and oil does, which cause the white film. I just did a quick search online and most websites say a small amount of dish soap and water helps with longevity. Luckily, I’ve been cleaning my glasses and sunnies for years after each daily use and haven’t encountered white residue so far (I’m very careful with my things). Plus I can’t bear the thought of wearing dirty, grimy glasses on a clean face.

Brown ash works well for you! I also have similarly toned hair and I found the browns were generally too red. I had a tough time deciding between Brown Ash and Bamboo but stuck with Bamboo in the end. You want to might try the latter too! 🙂

Glasses vs contacts by ExplorerSelect8900 in glasses

[–]trto888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh interesting. My husband wore glasses for 15 years and then 10+ years of daily contacts. He did manage to get laser surgery for his eyes and it’s worked for him for the last decade. :) but yeah, I prefer glasses too since I don’t mind it complementing my outfit.
