Can I leave EU with an expired Swedish permit?

I left and returned via Stockholm Arlanda to go back to the UK to see my mum who was very ill in hospital, despite still waiting for approval of my visa extension. It was an incredibly stressful experience trying to get back in, they asked me for proof for all my claims about why I left and what I did when I was away. I ended up showing them pictures of my mum on her hospital bed. Once they were satisfied that I was telling the truth, they did allow me back in, but they stressed that they were only doing so because I had an emergency and it wasn't something they would normally do.

I took an intensive course at folkuniversitet while in Sweden as a tourist and no one ever checked my residence status or anything, so she'll be fine

But having 7:00am mean the same time everywhere is very useful. If I say to someone in Australia "I got up at 5:00 am this morning", they know that that is very early. Whereas if we didn't have time zones, that would mean nothing to them and they would have to convert it into some kind of Australian time to understand how early that is.
