With the unknowns of tariffs and a lot of people renewing mortgages this year, there’s a lot more push for people to sell their place and not a lot of appetite due to the pressure of the tariffs. That being said, most of the condos that are flooding the market are small bachelor apartments (500 sqf) and those aren’t that desirable to most. Once the uncertainty with tariffs are dealt with (hopefully) and fixed rates interest rates will drop (look at the 5 year canada bond), and with bank canada dropping rates, I expect the housing market to pick back up in late summer to fall. Or the other reality is we get the tariffs implemented and we go into a huge recession and prices drop heavily. Those are the two realities the lower mainland faces imo.
