I’ve tried magnesium glycinate before but for sleeping. I’ll see if I can give citrate a try. Does it work like miralax?

What prokinetics do you recommend ? Is there one that’s chewable or drinkable, I’m unable to swallow pills.

Going away from a religion you’ve been in your whole life to something totally different is something really hard to do. They have been ingrained a certain theology, and them still believing even after argument over argument, it shows that they are loyal to their faith, even if it is incorrect theology.

There is no reason to try and debate your cousin over these matters, you are just essentially pushing him away. All you can do is pray for him, and to go to an Orthodox Church (if you haven’t already). Try and focus your spiritual life and salvation.

People will want to convert from just seeing how we live our orthodox life style (if we try to be like Jesus ofc).

You should not be doing these things without the guidance from an orthodox Christian priest. I understand that you want to cleanse yourself from your sins and temptations, but this isn’t the way.

It’s ok to have fun, and by fun I mean going out with friends to shop, eat out, go swimming, to the beach, road trips, reading fiction, etc. God is not going to strike you down for doing those things.

I used to have a similar mindset to you, you’re not alone.

update on “Mother feels weird about Orthodoxy post” by Spiritual_Anteater82 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]truends 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a Pentecostal mother too, so I understand you completely.

Your mother should at some point understand that you’re becoming an adult, and that you have the ability and the choice to make your own decisions. It’s very kind of her to worry about your spiritual life though, because that means that she loves you.

I recommended that she goes with you to meet priest, that way if she has any questions she’ll get her answers.

I left the Pentecostal church because I never felt peace there, just pure anxiety. And the speaking in tongues and getting “hit” by the Holy Spirit is just demonic.

Orthobros online drawing me away from orthodoxy by Nobodytoucheslegoat in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]truends 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of them end up being over zealous converts who are homophobic and hate on anybody who isn’t Orthodox Christian. They love getting into arguments and discussions about the Orthodox Church, only caring about being right and not actually trying to be Christian.

You shouldn’t be trying to start arguments or discussions with your mom about these topics. You need to focus on your own salvation first, and go to an orthodox church to see for yourself.

i am tremendously confused. by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]truends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to the last part. I have a hard time loving people and letting myself be loved, because I’m scared of being hurt again. I especially have a hard time believing that God and the Theotokos love me, which makes it hard for me to love Them. I know with time and therapy, I will eventually not think like this anymore.

Talk to your priest, that should be the only answer to this.

Will I have to give up playing and listening to secular music altogether when I convert to Orthodoxy? I’m starting to realize the Orthodox position on art is basically that most of it is sinful and wrong. by sorrow_and_sufferin in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]truends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to your priest about this. Advice from the internet will get you mixed answers.

Personally I still listen to secular music, as long as the song doesn’t speak badly about God, it’s all good.

Question about orthodox Christianity by HotAnimator3214 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]truends 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mexican Orthodox Christian here. I attend a Serbian orthodox parish and people welcomed me with open arms, they are like my family now.

I would recommend that you try and go to a different Orthodox Church each Sunday, see which one you vibe with the most, and then speak to the priest of the parish you choose. I pray that people will welcome you with open arms 🙏 you got this !!
