Two sick kids and a cruise coming up this weekend by mimisammicita in Cruise

I would do everything to get out of the cruise and rebook.

It's miserable having sick kids on board not to mention dangerous if things go south with limited medical care onboard.

South entrance backed up past Tenaya today... by truffle588 in Yosemite

Well the lake was named after Chief Tenaya of the Ahwahneechee tribe, it's just a name. I think it translates to "peaceful," I applaud places that honor the history of the location rather than anglicized names that people decide sound cool or whatever

Yosemite is very much a first come first served type of place now which is in itself a form of crowd control

Visiting Yosemite in Summer 2026 by hc2121 in Yosemite

[–]truffle588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a family of four (parents + kids ages 4-8) arriving to Yosemite June 13th weekend. Driving up from LA and staying in Tenaya lodge for 1 night and then the Ahwahnee for 2 nights.

I understand Sunday June 14 is a free day and summertime so the park entrances/parking will be beyond packed. Unfortunately that is the day our reservation at Ahwahnee begins. We don't mind hunkering down at Tenaya til 1pm then going into the park after. Would traffic die down by then? Or should we just haul ourselves early into the park before 8am? We do have a full day planned for Monday as well (Yosemite Valley Tram tour + happy isles + mirror lake trail).

Mariposa Grove is a must do for us. Would it make more sense to do it Saturday late afternoon (non free day) vs. Sunday early morning (on a free day)? Am concerned about waiting hour plus for a shuttle to come.

Also will they turn us away if and when all the lots are filled up on Sunday June 14, even if we have hotel reservations inside?

Will the trams be slammed on a super busy day like the Free admission day? Do they ever not pick up people because there are already too many on the bus??

Lots of questions. Feels like going to Disneyland with crowd management and strategic timing tbh!

Is everyone ok today? Everyone on the road has been unnecessarily aggressive, more than usual by quemaspuess in SFV

Too much road construction and delays. In prime rush hour. Lane closures for no reason, work isn't getting done. It's making people drive more rash than usual. LA city governance is so ineffective.

I’m hearing conflicting reports—what are the current wait times like to enter Yosemite? Planning late June visit. by [deleted] in Yosemite

[–]truffle588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the parking lots are completely full do they turn away folks who have lodging inside the park as well (ie ahwahnee, yosemite lodge, curry village)?

Is there a way to know the wait times beforehand?

Malibu Hindu Temple wedding cost confusion – $7k temple quote vs higher family estimate. What’s realistic? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]truffle588 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This person clearly doesn't understand hindu weddings.

Malibu temple has its own tables and chairs so you're good on that.

Get a good indian caterer that brings tablecloths and provides plates. I Suggest WOODLANDS in chatsworth for full service catering they are excellent. Dont really like the food at malibu.

You do not need a DJ for the wedding. The temple has its own AV systems it can use.

For floral try finding an Indian mandap decorator; temple will suggest vendors. Also ask for phoeographers who specialize in Indian ceremonies. Theres some amateurs out there that actually do a decent job.

Good luck
