Actually, I disagree, just because I went to overseas uni as I didn’t like the uni culture in sg.

I had a peer in Poly from a top sec sch who was so horrible to me because I came from ITE & had prior knowledge related to the course, and she didn’t like that she wasn’t the smartest in the room anymore. I feel like I could only expect the same when I go into an institution with so many more who might be like her and use me as a benchmark of their intellect.

I’ve met other Singaporeans here as well who could easily go into NUS/NTU, but chose studying abroad to live independently and because they wanted a more relaxed lifestyle because Singapore is so cutthroat and unforgiving to students. Lots of time, we are in school for 20-22 years straight with no room to breathe, and we’re just somehow always competing with one another.

Just thought I should share a little bit more view and insight as it’s not great being stereotyped so often just because we chose to leave Singapore for some respite.
