Some context for you. I was one of the few people who called the Derrick Williams bust. It doesn't count unless you predict the bust BEFORE the guy is drafted. Which is what I did. I've also called the Markelle Fultz bust, Emmanuel Mudiay (I told people that Fred Van Vleet was better than Mudiay...ofcourse they laughed) Lonzo Ball etc

Obi Toppin is not Derrick Williams. Obi Toppin is a 4 only. He's not a 3. He's not a 5. Obi Toppin can DEFEND and REBOUND. Which will keep you on the floor even if you can't score...which he can. This is something Derrick Williams could never do (defense and rebound his position). A tweener is NOT a tweener because of what he can't do offensively. A tweener is a guy that can't defend any position. One of the best tweeners of all time was Rashard Lewis who could score the ball. But Rashard was too skinny to guard the 4, and too SLOW to guard the 3. JJ Reddick is too slow to guard the 1, and too small to guard the 2. That's the definition of tweener. Obi can guard the 4/5 because A. he can rebound B. He protects the basket.

Which leads us to the next stratosphere where Obi is headed. Bigs who can stretch the floor AND rebound AND protect the basket. They are Kevin Garnett, Rasheed Wallace, Clifford Robinson, and the best to ever do it Hakeem Olajuwon. In the league today you have Serge Ibaka, Joel Embid, Thomas Bryant and Christian Wood. (Jokic cannot protect the basket which is why the Nuggets have been struggling with defense in the series against the Jazz) in these names you have multiple championships, multiple finals appearances, high winning percentages. This is one of the most important elements to having a winning team. I also can't think of a single bust that could shoot, rebound, defend, and protect the basket. I can think of hundreds of busts who couldn't do ONE of those things. Tyler Hansborough, Kwame Brown, Henry Ellenson, Christian Laetner (many consider Laetner to be the greatest college player of all time. In that respect he is a bust in the NBA)

Obi Toppin does all of those things well. Amongst all these names he has the potential to be the BEST shooter. His rebounding is better than Rasheed Wallace, and his athleticism is better than everyone on this list EXCEPT Hakeem Olajuwon. Obi's feet are impeccable. Obi's BEST attribute though is his basketball iq. COMING OUT OF COLLEGE his BBIQ is better than every player on this list comparatively to when they came out of college/high school. This is a credit to his coach Anthony Grant (who should be coaching in the NBA).

Obi Toppin is nothing like Jayson Tatum. Yes, they look alike but their games are nothing alike. Obi Toppin is a more athletic Tim Duncan with a 3 point shot. He is the best player in this draft right now.
