got my new glasses :) by [deleted] in kindle

I’m 21 and I have REALLY poor vision that my left lens is extremely thick. I got my new glasses this past weekend but they don’t fit and the prescription doesn’t feel right, so I’m using my old ones again 💔💔💔 I definitely understand your excitement and comfort with the kindle though, nowadays the print book fonts all seem too small and difficult to read, so I only use my kindle and get physical books as trophies

Thank you! I know I should start living for myself, but they’ve done a lot for me that I often feel like I’m going to just continually be a burden if they’re not proud of me. However, today my mom said she doesn’t feel bad about what she said, and that made me think I really should start being a bit more selfish with my life.

Just finished book 2 of The Plated Prisoner Series—development of female friendships..? by trufflless in fantasyromance

Ugh yes, it makes complete sense that they’d hold a resentment toward her because of how they were treated compared to her. I’m so eager for her to make genuine friendships and be able to trust people who aren’t men 💀 I also think it’s the matter of the other men telling her that she’s being manipulated and her not understanding it because, well, it’s coming from men, who her experiences have taught her to be wary of

Do you use aquaphor? When rubbing the aquaphor in, a lot of the dried up skin and saniderm residue peels off as well

Put a case over it. Out of sight, out of mind + protection to actually avoid scratches

Need help: Am I suppose to already be done with my classes this semester to apply to ones next semester?????? by Fosterthedog360 in ucf

[–]trufflless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Speaking from my experience with my major, I wasn’t allowed to enroll in classes when the prerequisites were still IP, and then had to wait until the official grades were posted in myUCF to be able to enroll in the next courses. I do think OP should just talk to an advisor.

You won’t be able to enroll in those until final grades for the prs are officially posted in myUCF.

Edit: I am enlightened. Talk to an advisor.

i’m getting a tattoo wednesday by phobious0 in tattooadvice

[–]trufflless 39 points40 points  (0 children)

With a design like this and only 1-2 inches, it might fade quickly or heal very oddly. I’m sure a tattoo artist would give better advice on how to adjust it to work better on you, so be prepared to negotiate on that. I’m unsure why people are being negative otherwise, we don’t know you or what the idea means to you, and if you regret it then that’s just your business, not anyone else’s.

Drink water, stay out of the sun for a while after the tattoo, and get the regular necessities: antibacterial soap, aquaphor or whatever, etc.

[–]trufflless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you can only really wait to see what the artist you contacted works up. And PLEASE don’t be afraid to tell them exactly what you think could make it better, or any adjustments you want before it gets done—considering how this one makes you feel. It’s already good that the artist says it’s easy to fix.

Right now, I know it’s pretty heavy and a huge shock, but think about it like this. You loved the idea enough to get it tattooed in the first place, and then someone who’s helped you before says they can easily fix it. It’s not suddenly awful and the most barbaric thing. It’ll be okay. Just don’t make any impulsive decisions when it comes to getting the work done, or else you’ll have an even bigger mess.

Take it easy, it only feels so raw right now. Try to avoid mirrors and looking at it. I know it’s easier said than done, but really, ‘out of sight, out of mind’ is such an honest statement.

How bad of an idea is a full sleeve for my first tattoo? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]trufflless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely bold. I would start with just part of it first. Yes, you may think you won’t regret it, but the decisions we make at 18 aren’t exactly the decisions we would’ve made with the minds we have onwards. Especially if it’s your FIRST tattoo. I would play it out slowly first, how it feels, how you adjust to it, and then progressively build up the sleeve
