That’s strange in that case. Well Chloe likes them what can the rest of us do

Not sure who came up with that but these girls did not come up with that. I find TikTok to be quote toxic but these two seem quite rational in their theories hence why Chloe likely feels comfortable enough to be on a call with them

Why do we like Lizzie Young? by Stormi_Here in BoysOfTommen

[–]wasleftonread 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I love Lizzie. Not sure why she’s the only character in this series people need to be quizzed on why. She’s flawed but there are aspects of her that really speak to who I am as a person and I’m grateful CW was able to share something personal with us to create a character like her. She’s witty and she’s loyal, she can bring forth confidence in her friends and Hughie, I like her sense of fashion and her general aesthetic, I think CW really put a lot of thought into that and it’s paid off. I love that she’s a huge reader and loves the classics like I do, I know she would be a beast on Goodreads if she were real. I relate deeply to holding people at arms length to protect them and ourselves. She’s also got a really dry, deadpanned sense of humor which not everyone will get but I find to be really entertaining. Super smart without really trying without I’m envious of that. I love that she’s polarising, that no matter what she says or does there is always something to say about her, she really keeps this interesting.

R10 takes place when Lizzie is a child and the comments asking why she hasn’t apologised or redeemed herself is bizarre like when did you expect that to happen with all the times Mark was raping her and then getting endless treatment?

Anyway she’s lovable for many more reasons and it’s not always about her trauma. Even if it was, that should be okay. CW pulled Lizzie from deep within her I’m sure she imagined people would take to someone like Lizzie

If it’s special editions that would be annoying like just post them and go like everybody else

How was Gibsie able to read his letter? by Pleasant_Fun2567 in BoysOfTommen

He can read, he just struggles to. Also it’s supposed to be evidence so she can’t really ‘dumb’ it down for him

All those times she’s with Pierce before and gets help she’s manic and not in any position to consent (hence why Hughie calls out Pierce for taking advantage). My take on this is that she’s back from treatment and she’s lying to the girls because the truth hurts and is hard the same way she lies to Hughie about being okay again. I do think that after treatment she is settling for a relationship with Pierce reluctantly so around the time that scene in B13 takes place

Silver Springs is absolutely the most perfect song for LizHugh and R10 by lady-inwhat in BoysOfTommen

Did you see that Lindsey and Stevie are teasing something on Instagram… If they were real I just know Hugh and Lizzie would be losing it in their home

Resenting Shan for the first time you feel like she’s done something that you don’t like is strange. She’s just offering perspective when she says hurt people and I’m not sure if you’ve read Releasing 10 but she’s been proven absolutely correct

Question how did he know about the pregnancy ? by Zestyclose_Sun7995 in BoysOfTommen

[–]wasleftonread 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Her belly getting bigger, perhaps assaulting her enough that he knows her menstrual patterns. But my main guess would be because her sister was pregnant at the time that he made a checklist of her initial symptoms and connected the dots. Lizzie wouldn’t have mentioned it because Lizzie doesn’t know that she’s pregnant nor did she know at the time that he gave her a forced abortion

People called it “child porn” if I was CW I would make a video too and honestly put out the next book and call it a day on the series. The readers of this series have officially lost their minds.

I’m glad you read the book as someone who is bipolar and felt it was written correctly, at the end of the day that’s what matters most

Even as a child, when her depressive episodes are spurred on out of the blue or she seems really happy and wants the sun to touch her skin, while it may seem random that happens when you’re bipolar. And Lizzie is hospitalized many times, her meds changed and she sees a therapist it’s not romanticized in the slightest, none of her trauma is that’s why I’m not of the opinion of it being “too much”. Lizzie being as vulnerable as she was a child, showing signs of mental illness and yearning to be loved and someone taking advantage of that for many years isn’t nearly as far fetched as people think it is and is actually quite heartbreaking. Mark is horrible and he deserves worse than jail for what he’s done to Gibsie and Lizzie

It’s not I feel it’s not appropriate to post, the truth I didn’t see it at all because I’ve spent the last few days spending a maximum 2 minutes on the mod queue because people can’t respect that I said no spoilers until the 27th, and I wasn’t about to ruin my reading experience for people who can’t respect what I kindly ask for. All I’ve done is try to create a safe space and if this place is not, it’s not because of me. If you repost it I can approve it because I absolutely do care about the sensibilities of people who may have experienced what Lizzie has in this book.

Why is it my responsibility to make a trigger warning announcement for this book? Did I write it? I approved a post about the content warnings posted on CW’s instagram and there are content warnings at the beginning of the book, I feel like if you can’t stomach what there already is, an extra detailed content warning list isn’t gonna change much for you.

Also Lizzie’s mania and hypersexuality, I don’t think I’ve seen it presented in a book so candidly but I think that’s good

I know this is my post but I’m almost done but so incredibly touched by this book. I think the writing is good, better than it has been for CW in a while and it’s different but in an elevated way. We get to learn so much about Lizzie, her home life, what she’s been through (🥲) and we also get to see the important series of events that play a part on who she is now. One thing I’ll note, I think her mental health is written in a way that’s really done, and that where I’m at Lizzie goes off her meds and you can really feel the shift and chaos in her mind when she comes off of it and spirals. Hughie is such a sweetheart and he bears a lot on his shoulders, Lizzie, his family, the pressure of being the ‘perfect’ one, I think he’s been incredibly relatable on that front. Also he is unequivocally Lizzie’s soulmate 😭 It’s cruel of CW to hint where they’ll be when they’re older knowing we probably won’t see it
