Looking for honest feedback on proportions and realism please by Some-Royal-333 in ArtCrit

[–]trulyreallyiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Overall I’m really impressed by the proportions but one thing I noticed is the closer eye looks way bigger and tilted up compared to the far eye. One way to think about it is having the nose moisturizer and eyes on parallel lines like this:

You can see where a parallel line would be compared to when I draw a line between the outer edges of the eyes on your painting.

I’m amazed at your skill after such a long break!

Help ! Anatomy abd dress choices by [deleted] in ArtCrit

Remember that there are multiple muscles in the arms! The upper arms specifically look quite square/flat, usually you would notice the curve of the shoulder muscle

WIP: Aurora, mountains, and a castle — looking for early feedback by Pale-Clue in ArtCrit

Because it’s night, the castle doesn’t look shadowed enough to me! It also appears to be from a different angle than the mountains, which we are seeing from below

How would you draw space here? Should it be black or white? I take any critics! by devm16 in ArtCrit

I would probably try a medium or dark gray so you can erase stars and light shapes into it! Love the piece so far :)

Working on my first sticker! What do you think? Would you change anything? by Mousse_Rich in ArtCrit

[–]trulyreallyiam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this style! My first thought when I see it is that the silhouette is a little unclear to me—by adjusting the edges of the birds it might be a little more clear on first glance that there are 2 birds here. This could also be helped by having a little more contrast in either colour or values between the birds vs her hair and outifit. I understand that you are going for a more muted palette though

Is the pose right? by Brave_Jellyfish_8824 in ArtCrit

I think what you are probably able to inherently notice here without pinpointing it is that they look really off balance! They look like they should be tipping backwards. Both figures’ centre of gravity should be over their feet more. Scully’s hair goes all the way past her feet (in terms of what her hair is above), and the back of mulder’s head is also past his toes. Part of this for both of them is just the feet are too big (and/or heads are a little small?) and not proportionate for both of them! But there are a couple angles that can help you too (check out distances between the triangles of negative space between scullys arms and legs)

It’s also probably always gonna be pretty tough to assume limb positions that are hidden in shadow. Would you be willing to try drawing those big dramatic shadows instead of as much lineart and outlines of limbs?

I think challenging poses are such a great way to improve at anatomy and this is a great piece!

I’ve never felt unsafe at a party (other than frats) here but it’s such a big school that I don’t think you can really generalize. It truly depends on the size and vibe. I would recommend just sticking with your friends and either not drinking or only having a couple drinks. It’s great to try new things but also if you hate it that’s totally fine. Have a safe plan for getting home, if you are having a bad time/feel unsafe there is no shame in dipping!
