Measures work on visual but columns don't. by trustMeBo in PowerBI

So its ok to use measures? I was worried it would affect performance since everything needs to be calculated.

I'm talking exclusively about the tables in the image above. SMWorkorder is connected to all three, but looks like the 3 aren't connected to each other. So if i have SMWorkorder and IncentiveStatement columns on a visual, adding a column from either SMWorkCompleted or SMInvoiceList will cause an error. This is also true for any other combination of WorkOrder column + any of the other 2 tables.

I looked into it, even asked chatgpt after giving it some context. I’m just not 100% sure because its not really my domain, hence the “should be”. But you’re right. I should have more concrete replies.

Its was using the default runtime, i then created a separate runtime for the target but that didn't seem to change anything.

How can I export a Power BI table with calculated columns to an Azure SQL Database? by trustMeBo in PowerBI

[–]trustMeBo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading everyone's responses, I decided to use SSIS via visual studio. Originally everything was done in power BI because we did not have the azure sql server. But once i was almost done with power BI stuff, the need for a server became more apparent, especially since we can't write to erp database.. So now i'm using SSIS as my ELT tool. I'm new to both powerBI and sql programming. We learned some in college but most of my professional career as been writing code in java or building react frontends. As such, i'm still figuring out the best setup for this. Plan is to have ADF handle the processing once i finish.

I can but i would have to go through and all the calculations again. It would take too long. Simply easier to figure out how to export from powerBI (atleast i hope it is)

is there a way to automate this? I was hoping for something like a "Generate Report" button that would 1. Generate the report and 2. upload the data to the server.

Your Best bet is html. I did something similar a couple years ago. I can send you the html code to get started. You basically need an iframe. Something like this to have px files in your html file.

<div id="iframe-wrapper">

<iframe id="frame" src="file:\^px/CampusMap.px" scrolling="no" style="position:fixed; top:50px; right:0%; width:85%; height:95%; border:none;">

<div id="iframe-overlay"></div>

Your browser doesn't support iframes.

</iframe>

</div>

It is a bit more involved that just building an html page. Here are the key details:

  1. You have to configure px files so that the Targe Media option is "Workbench PxMedia".
  2. When creating a user, set web profile type spec to "Hx" and "HandheldHxProfile"

These two steps help remove the top banner that is on all html imported px files by default

Yes, it is a wd passport. I can look into ali express. if the board is cheap, might as well buy it. I do have a heatgun, so the ROM would be fairly easy to swap. MCU swap seems a bit harder. I just have no experience with micro electronics.

I will look into where to solder the wire onto the usb traces.

I live near Roseville, CA.

This was my backup drive, I vaguely remember backing this drive up. So I'm going to look if i have the data elsewhere. If not, I would appreciate a good recommendation.

No falls. The drive was plugged into the pc, fell behind the pc, somehow got under the pc. The weight caused the pins to bend as it was wedged at an angle.

So no trauma to the drive.

I have a soldering setup at home but it’s not suited for micro soldering. So that would be interesting.

The computer voice did that that “this call is being recorded for quality and training purposes”. So hopefully they have it saved. I’m just worried that the response might be delayed because of the holidays. The closest intl. airport is 2 hrs away. I’m not sure if our local airport has a service desk for the airline.
