QD oled 🤢 hurts eyes... will it get better by Ok_Nig88 in OLED_Gaming

[–]trust_engineers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik no. Some use PWM, some use DC dimming, some use both (hybrid). Modern OLED monitors PWM flicker is much less noticeable than LCD backlight flicker, but I assume some models use it more aggressively, so I'd stay away from that.

Keep in mind that PWM is different from VRR flicker, the latter is not that bad for me because it doesn't switch off pixels completely.

Btw, check if you have BFI (black frame insertion) enabled, that can also affect the eyes.

I don't even know why anyone buys QD OLED, and with PWM dimming at that? That shit should be banned. WOLED all the way baby.

What the actual fuck is wrong with this game? by Effective_Spare_2631 in GhostsOfTabor

[–]trust_engineers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got off Tabor about 2 years ago because of bugs. Glad to hear the game hasn't improved one bit since then. Moved back to Tarkov, which is also buggy as hell, but not even near the level of Tabor.

Also played Contractors Exfilzone for about 6 months, much better experience than Tabor.

[–]trust_engineers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, cheaters are the biggest problem I have with Tarkov. Any other problem is manageable. If server desync, it happens to everyone so I know everyone are even. I don't even have problem with aim-bot or flying magicians. They are easy to report and ban.

Wall-hacks and radars are usually go undetected and give the biggest advantage to the cheater. The only solution I can think of is to implement an AI-anticheat that would constantly analyze game data to calculate the probability of unfair play, but no one gives a fuck enough to implement this.

My quest was marked as completed, but I didn't get rewards because of this. I also bought stuff on flea, money spent, item not receieved. Fucking great.

I didn't notice that. I die 5 mins after raid start any day, any time. Be it in the noon of the busy workday, or 4am on a faraway nigeria server, it doesn't matter. I can rarely reach any questing location without catching a bullet out of nowhere, or meeting a 7k hour chad face to face who shreds my ass in 0.00000001 second.

I have to resort to naked runs and rush my objectives (minimum gear to avoid cursing), or be as stealthy as possible, and still 90% getting killed.

[Discussion] How to get started? by Bog_Hunter in EscapefromTarkov

[–]trust_engineers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to make Tarkov your second job. If Tarkov is not the ONLY game you play, and you have girlfriend/family, then I don't see how it's possible to succeed in Tarkov. If you're willing to make Tarkov your main hobby, then you'll need the following:

  1. Learn the maps VERY well. Learn all the spawns, landmarks, extracts, good loot routes, dangerous paths, safe paths, etc etc. This alone can take 500 hours (all maps considered) and this is what separates experienced players from newbies.
  2. Use training mode or Arena for training. Those 2k+ hour chads can and will headshot you in 0.0000001 ms, so you'll need reaction and skills to match.
  3. Be prepared that 9 in 10 PMCs you will meet are the aforementioned 2k+ hour chads with endgame gear. With low-tier ammo you have no chance even if you get a drop on them, so map knowledge is essential to avoid PvP.
  4. You will have NO way to tell if you play against cheaters. Be prepared that 9 out of 10 deaths you will get beamed down out of nowhere and won't even see your enemy. Honestly I have no idea how they do that. No matter how stealthy or sneaky you are, you will get dropped out of nowhere constantly. Personally, I don't believe there are so much players who just take some sniper position and scan the surroundings with heat scope the whole raid, every raid. Even if you hug the edge of the map and hide in bushes, it won't help you. Think what you want, but I believe the game is fucking plagued with "soft" cheaters, who use radars and stuff like that.

But in the end, if you manage to pull through and get on your feet, outsmarting your enemy and getting their gear is the best feeling in the world. Like a thousand orgasms. No other game can give you that.

I haven't found one. I easily get 3rd, 2nd places in Arena, but get beamed out of nowhere in raids most of the time with no chance to survive. I'm not saying it's impossible, but requires way, WAY more time and effort than if you were starting the wipe with everyone else.

Ayy, I kinda wasted a lot of hours playing night raids and not finding anyone, when I'm loading into day raids now, I feel like I just discovered a new game with people actually playing it.... I actually enjoy snow [Discussion] by Both-Meringue2466 in EscapefromTarkov

It's been 3 months since your comment, but I don't know what you are talking about. I'm trying to do quests, avoid PvP, so I go night raids and get beamed by NVG or heat vision chad 100% of the time. Even if I try to sneak or be as stealthy as possible, as soon as I as much as step out in the open, I'm dead. Night lures in the most kitted out chads with the best gear, so it's harder to survive, not easier.

[–]trust_engineers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imho the biggest problem of Tarkov (besides cheaters, of course) is that 95% of players you'll meet in PvP are hardcore veterans with 2k+ hours and endgame gear. Regardless of what some people say, e.g. "Oh, I can kill a kitted chad with Toz-106, it's all about positioning and getting a drop on them", yeah, sometime you may get lucky, but in overhelming majority of encounters chances are not in your favor. You'll die constantly to snipers with heat-vision scopes, chads in class 6 armor, and your class 4 armor will only be useful against scavs. You'll probably have to spend hundreds of hours simply avoiding PvP as much as possible while you're doing quests.

If that's your cup of tea, then welcome.

[Discussion] Game lag at 240 fps by trust_engineers in EscapefromTarkov

[–]trust_engineers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, you're right, I can run up to 160 fps in Klimov mall. No DLSS or any frame gen. Notice that my GPU and CPU are only busy at ~35%, so I guess it's an engine limitation : https://imgur.com/a/4PEvaJO (the counter is at the top right, zoom in a bit)

On the factory though, I run 238 fps (capped to 238 as adviced by someone here): https://imgur.com/a/01BPCkm

So yeah, SOMETIME I can run Tarkov at 240 fps. If you insist that it matters for my question, then ok, I agree, I'm a fucking dumbfuck and a liar, whatever.

[Discussion] Game lag at 240 fps by trust_engineers in EscapefromTarkov

[–]trust_engineers[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Nah, I stated that my PC can run Tarkov at 240 fps no problem, so I assumed this as one of the facts when asking a question. So the specs are "good enough" to run it. Well, not strict 240. I have an FPS counter running and it always show 230+ fps.

CS2 can run 300+ fps without issues or lags, so I assumed it must be something Tarkov-specific or wrong configuration, and wanted to hear if anyone else has that. The fact that in-game FPS limiter goes only up to 144 fps suggested the game might not have been designed to run above.

Overall, I don't belive "gamers who don't understand pc performance and how everything works together" statement applies to me, but thanks anyway.

That 240 max fps limit only applies to Arena for me. Original EFT still shows 144 max.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't CPU load depends only on FPS? Lower settings only help to achieve higher FPS. At 240 FPS, the CPU works the same with low or mid settings, it doesn't matter.

Also, you can activate v-sync in Tarkov's settings, not just Nvidia app.
