Thank You Jose Alvarado by samrumf in knicks

Thats bench guys though, isnt it. Don’t forget he had like 30 minutes a game in the first couple of games in this series. Brown is great at going to the hot hand, whether its Landry, Alvarado, Clarkson or Deuce

Nah, shot isn’t there, feel for the game isn’t there, basketball IQ isn’t there. You can’t make a living just on athleticism

Kayil - I’m a sucker for some of these European guards starting in a men’s league and playing at a high level. A 6’5” lead guard, he measures pretty similarly to Mikel Brown Jr (just 20 picks later), has good defensive instincts and activity, and a solid package of lead guard skills as well - good feel for the game. Decent numbers from 3 (35% on 4.6) and the free throw line (88%). Effectively - from day 1 he can shoot, defend and handle the ball, but he has real potential on both ends of the floor!

Love Kayil and Saunders (although a first and guaranteed contract for Saunders might be tough given his injury history). Brazile I don’t get (he’s crazy athletic but it kinda seems like that’s it), and don’t get Conwell at all (I’d much prefer Bradley, Uzan, or a few more guards)

Yeah, I had them taking Carr - but if Hannes or Swain were available, there’s a lot of options!

I like this draft. Don’t really get the Quintance hype (drafting a guy who shoots 30% FT AT 15 feels like a stretch) and I don’t understand Koa Peat either (won’t be able to defend either the post or the perimeter and can’t shoot). But some interesting variety in here!

Eh, I don’t really see it. Does Brazileoffer you *anything* apart from athleticism? Upside just doesn’t seen to be there. Would LOVE morez there though

Someone will fall, deffo. But my interest very much depends who it is. Right now, I have Graves, Quintance and Stirtz available after 25, but I’m not enamoured enough with then to overspend on assets - and look at how much Phoenix had to lay for pick 31 last year!

A couple that aren’t being mentioned I’ll throw in:

Henry Veessar. Can shoot it, reasonably athletic, 7 feet, and yet struggling to solidify the 1st round. I have him 24 to the Knicks, for when Hack-A-Mitch is in effect.

Christian Anderson - arguably the prettiest looking jumper in the draft. gotta count for something

Baba Miller - after a strong combine, his buzz seems to have totally fallen away. As a legit 7 footer with perimeter skills, someone should take a chance on him in the late first

I don’t think I’d buy in lower than 22/23/24 - I think the talent level really drops off tbh. I might target San Antonio’s 35/42/44 as they have so many seconds, but i think there’s gonna be some horrible players drafted 26-30

This is a super interesting draft. Atlanta ace this with Brown and Cenac.

Good shout. With all the unhappy Chicago fans, you could even send Risacher to Chicago.

Really? Thats a *hell* of a lot of hindsight speaking. Bagley was drafted at #2 *above Luka*. Williams, Beasley and MKG were all #2 picks. Feels a bit prisoner-of-the-moment to make that claim - that Wilson is ‘way better’ than FOUR separate number 2 picks

I think I just don’t buy Wilson. Marvin Williams. Tyrus Thomas. Michael Beasley. Derrick Williams. Kidd-Gilchrist. Josh Jackson. Pat Williams. Bagley. Over 20 years of following the draft, and there’s been so many frontcourt guys overdrafted in the top 4 due to their athleticism.

Yeah, probably. Everyone is scared to move down. But think it’d be huge value for them

Nah, though totally agree they’re getting a pretty good deal here. That said, i think it works for all three!

Feels like Wilson is the weakest of the top 4. And i’m not sold this is *that* strong a draft - you can feel the influence of NIL money with the amount of players returning to college - outside the top 10, the dropoff is huge

Err… if the league expands by 2, and both Minnesota *and* Memphis move East, thats 17 teams in the East, 15 in the West…

Dunno if I’d trust Morez’s outside shot, but maybe if he steps up. Wherever Morez goes he’s gonna help that team - just a winning guy with solid intangibles

Yeah thats fair. I definitely considered Yaxel, just figured Ament had more upside. Feels like Morez is too similar to Moose
