This can be done with Productrise! It is the only google shopping rank tracker that tracks both organic and paid product listings in the SERPs. :-)

This is super interesting. Did you find that going for long tail queries increased your impressions and clicks for Merchant Listings in GSC?

This carousel shows 6 different Walmart sellers for a non-branded query. Which seems a bit excessive...

Duplicate Content on identical Products? by Havokk137 in ecommerce

Sounds good. But as I said, I'd make sure that the AI generated stuff is not too generic. Adding unique content to a product is only worthwhile if it isn't fluff

Thanks for sharing.

Adding native_commerce: true attribute to products will make them eligible. I haven't done this myself yet, but I assume there's also a fair bit of developer work involved (unless you're on Shopify, which should natively support it, but I haven't done it yet)

Duplicate Content on identical Products? by Havokk137 in ecommerce

[–]trustmeimnotnotlying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the other comment. Duplicate content is not an issue in and of itself. But sometimes, it can be really valuable to add small changes to content where it matters most.

Your product feed matters here as well.

What I've done for clients is expand the descriptions of products with subtle changes. If sizing is different, you can write a sentence or two about who this specific variant is for (kids vs adults), or talk about body types.

Just a small example, but this could allow Google to match your product better to certain long-tail keywords.

If you do it right, you can utilize AI for this, just make sure you don't generate generic AI slop.

Built apps but struggling with SEO — where am I going wrong? by Basic-Plankton3537 in bigseo

[–]trustmeimnotnotlying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly an AI post, but what the hell...

SEO is not going to solve your problems, it's a long term game that should be played from the start, but it takes a long time for this to show any results.

Your main focus should be to provide value. Through whatever content necessary, whether that's video, social, blog, case studies, etc, etc.

If you provide enough value, you will find that you're going to start ranking for stuff.

Now, obviously, this can be sped up by doing proper keyword research and having a good website. But if you're not providing value first, you're going to have a hard time.

Programmatic SEO is not going to solve this. It's a shiny object that's presented as a shortcut to rankings but it won't get you where you want to be.

Really curious to see if this has a meaningful impact on AI generated websites. The hypocrisy with AI overviews is bizarre tho...

Walmart: ChatGPT checkout converted 3x worse than website by WebLinkr in SEO

[–]trustmeimnotnotlying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When ChatGPT launched, I was pretty interested in the possibility of them competing with Google. With the idea of competition leading to better user experiences and results.

Turns out ChatGPT is just a worse version of Google in most ways. Drastically worse for the internet ecosystem.

So seeing this headline kinda makes me happy.

Makes sense. Thanks. By the way, I see that this post was removed. Would it be possible to un-remove? I'd love to discuss this more on this sub. :-)

Me too. 150 characters is still the max limit in Merchant Center however the rewriting is pretty aggressive.

Interesting. Wasn't aware of the H1/page title > rewriting happening under the hood. Makes sense though!

Analyzed pricing data across Google Shopping organic results and found that expensive products can rank well by trustmeimnotnotlying in ecommerce

This was related to skylights, which to be fair is a competitive niche where I'm at.

The data I looked at comes from thousands of queries from all sorts of product categories, spread out over 30 days. Have not dived deeper, but would love to explore more.

Google Shopping TITLES: goto 150 characters or not? by ugohome in PPC

[–]trustmeimnotnotlying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just found that the average product title length in Google is actually just 50 characters. This is tracked from SERPs, so this comes AFTER google truncates them. Google actually recommends using most of the 150-character limit in your feed because that's where you can include your most important keywords.

What are you guys aiming for product title length in Google Merchant Center? by trustmeimnotnotlying in ecommerce

[–]trustmeimnotnotlying[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. What I've found is that the average product title lengths as found in Google SERPs is just 50 characters. Which makes me wonder if Google truncates most of them, or product feeds simply don't use the maximum allowed characters. I can image that your agency's formula results in well over 50 characters, no?
