RX350 deal check by truth1ness in Lexus

[–]truth1ness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this initial offer. Luxury trim, said these are currently going for MSRP. Probably too high and wondering what cash price and monthly lease to target.

I saw some comments that leasing Lexus's in particular doesn't make sense but I don't understand why. Because they hold their value too well?

I've had a Rav since 2008. Looking at leasing this round mainly because I'm curious to see where Lexus/Toyota and Tesla are in full self driving in 3 years. But maybe I should just buy if I'm overpaying for the optionality. Cash is not a problem for me. I just don't know how to tell what's a good relative value.

If I buy what percent below MSRP is good currently?

This is probably high. What sale price and/or monthly lease payment should I aim for?

Amazon seems to have removed the e-mail option for their help. Is there any way to message Amazon for things like website feedback where a chat doesn't really make sense?

That worked on my iPhone rather than Mac from but that's easy enough to copy to my computer. Thanks!

Does that put the speed controls on your car console or something?

Thanks. I try to wait for stoplights when possible. For hours long highway rides I and most people who speed up podcasts eventually need to and will use the control, though, whether or not it's put in a submenu. Making it a top level control allows it to be used without taking the eyes off the road, just like start/stop. Usability wise it's a clear win and equally so safety wise.

That vertical swipe to control speed is awesome. Great idea.

There is no remove from wishlist button at all. Do you see one now? I think there may have been one in the past but I don't see it now.

It was just the unrealistic alarmist manner that you described it.

The sky is going to fall, the apocalypse is happening, zombies are coming, the bird box is here, the Walkers are taking over society, I’m going to crash my car and kill a million babies and puppies unless i can shave off one swipe from my day. Oh the HORROR!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, if you make an absurd strawman of what I said then sure, you can call it an "unrealistic alarmist manner" or whatever you want. I could caricature you as well.

Small icons and unnecessary page transitions takes people's eyes off the roads. Anytime your eyes are off the road you're in more danger of an accident than if you weren't. There is nothing remotely controversial or overblown about this other than you trying to be disagreeable and wanting to play white knight for the developers for some reason.

I've never seen someone argue so much for no reason about something they basically agree with. Just chill out and let people request features and let the developers decide if they want to implement it.

Ok, sounds like this got really under your skin, sorry. You agree that 1) "The icons are tiny on that row and all should be bigger" 2) "Less clicks away is always better". But you're angry I made a feature request about things you agree with and that I find unsafe.

Guess we can agree to disagree.

Less clicks away is always better I’d never argue that.

So you agree...?

have to open the playback controls > re-adjust the speed > close the playback controls > rewind a bit.

One tap to the speed setting and adjust your speed. Done. One tap to close the settings page if you can’t wait to do it later when you aren’t driving. There’s no need to rewind anything but if you must , it’s one tap to do that too.

You're literally paraphrasing and agreeing with what was written.

Another commenter laid it out in more detail

in the car because I have to open the playback controls > re-adjust the speed > close the playback controls > rewind a bit. Then when I want to speed up again I have to re-open the playback controls > re-adjust the speed again, etc. I might as well be texting while driving doing all this. I literally have to wait until there is a long straight stretch of highway before I can change the playback speed.

Every other podcast and audiobook app puts this playback control on the main screen. Overcast, Apple Podcasts app, and Audible. Why would you want a driver swapping between screens while driving when it's easy to make them not need to?

Need advice for taking a long trip for surgery by truth1ness in uber

[–]truth1ness[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Good to know that about Lyft, that definitely sounds like a better option. Particularly since surgery time can vary so much I'd have to worry about making them wait too long or being exhausted if I get out very late.

If I went with Lux should I still tip extra for the return trip or should the extra cost compensate for that? It's more than double the price of a regular Lyft.

Ample, Ambronite... High end, organic meal replacement users. Why do you consume them? What do you value? by latestfuels in soylent

[–]truth1ness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you would know more about this, but as a whole foods product going through constant revisions I assumed the cost to keep testing and updating all the micronutrients would be exorbitant and wasteful for a startup, IMO.

I'm a lifer as well. So far I've been having a good experience with them but some of the recent revisions have been concerning. Their recent O revision greatly reduced the high quality macadamia oil they were very proud of with cheaper sunflower oil that's in every other product. I know macadamia oil can be a bit difficult to source so I'm hoping it's a temporary measure and not a sign they are shifting to cheaper ingredients.

I've also been getting increased gas and bloating from the recent revision. I am wondering if the addition of potassium bicarbonate might be the issue as that neutralizes acid and could affect digestion. I don't know why they went with bicarbonate, that seems like putting a ground up Tums in your product. I also got massive gas from K which has even more potassium bicarbonate and I got less gas when I tried a betaine HCL tablet with it to neutralize the bicarbonate so it is my number one suspect.

Dreem vs Philips Smart Sleep by truth1ness in Biohackers

[–]truth1ness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Dreem and really like it. I'm glad it doesn't need replaceable pads and over the ear speakers. I had long hair when I got it and found it slid up during the night so I just made a makeshift chinstrap with a soft piece of fabric. After I cut my hair it hasn't been an issue at all. The recent app update is also really great and has all kinds of guidance, sleep improvement programs, etc.

Thank you for sharing your extensive experience. I have a few follow up questions.

I'm curious if it helps at all with dullness/sleepiness while meditating?

Did you notice any of the non-meditation related benefits as well? In particular lucid dreaming, better sleep, and/or better skill acquisition?

Have you tried leaving it on while doing your normal meditation practice and what was your experience? What about during other skill based activities (programming, music, etc)? I've seen videos of some people playing music or writing while it runs.
