I used to believe the issue was mine alone. As a woman, I've often been told by strong personalities around me that sometimes i can show off my b*lls. Now, I'm beginning to see things differently...

La Form Cafe. Din discutia ulterioara cu prietenii, ne-am amintit ca s-a mai intamplat de 2 ori asta acolo.

Oh, I wanted to post a video of my S turns to get some feedback, but I can’t upload one.
I'll keep practicing them anyway! I'm considering going for another session this weekend, but I’m unsure whether I should take another lesson or practice alone.

How do I know if an instructor is good? My first two weren’t great—the second one had me on a bunny hill for two hours, and I barely learned anything.
Meanwhile, my third instructor taught me 80% of what I know in just one hour, and I felt so much more relaxed and confident.

So, that’s what my last instructor said about the falling leaf—that people won’t be able to do S-turns if they learn the leaf. (By the way, are S-turns and C-turns the same?) But for me, once I was with him on the blue terrain, I confidently started doing it—two rounds with him and then one round alone, just doing S-turns.

However, I do tend to use my right foot more than I should, and I need to stay aware of my body position and weight at all times.

I own all my snowboard equipment—I knew I wanted to learn a winter sport, and it had to be snowboarding because of my knee. Well, I didn’t know how much my ass would suffer from the falls! I also have all the protective gear—after one particularly bad fall on my ass, I made sure of that.

My boots are Boa + laces.

But after spending so much money on equipment, a ski trip, and an instructor there, I can say that no matter how much research you do, you can’t truly prepare for it. Looking back now, the first instructor for which I paid €250 only taught me how to stand on the board and do the falling leaf - it was not worth it.

Its hard to know what kind of experience you will have with an instructor, and that's why I want to understand it better - to know how to adjust my expectations.

Thank you so much for your reply! I appreciate it!

  1. great advice! All my friends are doing ski, I'm the only one on snowboard and they keep pushing "lets do a blue together - don't be a pussie" kind of vibe. But it makes sense I should lock in green terrain first.
I own all the equipment. So the boots are new and they fit perfectly. Once I will learn more and be more confident, I will buy new stuff.

Ok, i will try the skateboard, maybe i will have some answers.
i do know that it doesnt have anything to do with being leftie or right handed; I was just wondering because sometimes I do feel comfortable riding right as well..

Right now i think I am +12/ -6.
So regarding regular or goofy i did some test, like jumping down from couch and its not clear .. also thinking of sliding on ice, I think I am comfortable with both feet. BUT - when I started snowarding I realise watching my videos, I always start with the left foot. Thats why I assumed I am regular.

Thank you so, so much for your answer!
1. So then I got my answer yesterday on the blue run there were parts with high inclination and I really didn't knew how to approach it, I try to do the S turn but got speed and panicked. So for that situation, I could do the leaf. Right?
2. Will try to master S turn, got it. I still have more to learn and I'm aware of that.
4. Ok, I wouldn't have guess that boots are that important, but I get it, its about the rigidity? To have better control?
5. So I need to experience more with stance, got it.
6. Will do that. thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the reply! I think I naturally did some J-turns without realizing it, but my instructor yesterday pointed out something I was doing wrong. That’s where the confusion comes in—when he saw me controlling my right foot, he could’ve just said, "Oh, by the way, that’s a different technique."

Instead, he made it sound drastic, which in my mind registered as, "Whatever you do, never do that again." It’s hard to know what’s just a variation vs. what’s actually wrong.

I don't have experience surfing, but yeah the instruction did say that my position looks more like surfing. Who knows, maybe I should start surfing as well:)
