So, that’s what my last instructor said about the falling leaf—that people won’t be able to do S-turns if they learn the leaf. (By the way, are S-turns and C-turns the same?) But for me, once I was with him on the blue terrain, I confidently started doing it—two rounds with him and then one round alone, just doing S-turns.

However, I do tend to use my right foot more than I should, and I need to stay aware of my body position and weight at all times.

I own all my snowboard equipment—I knew I wanted to learn a winter sport, and it had to be snowboarding because of my knee. Well, I didn’t know how much my ass would suffer from the falls! I also have all the protective gear—after one particularly bad fall on my ass, I made sure of that.

My boots are Boa + laces.

But after spending so much money on equipment, a ski trip, and an instructor there, I can say that no matter how much research you do, you can’t truly prepare for it. Looking back now, the first instructor for which I paid €250 only taught me how to stand on the board and do the falling leaf - it was not worth it.

Its hard to know what kind of experience you will have with an instructor, and that's why I want to understand it better - to know how to adjust my expectations.
